Greetings,

I bought MSI 1070 GeForce GTX Gaming X 8 GB and issues are started to appears. lol

Here is my issue:

I attached new graphic card correctly (PCI cables, VGA (from DVI-D).
I uninstall previous card's drives and started to install its DVD; drivers and utilities.
After installing it, it said that I need to reboot my computer. I reboot it and when it's started, the screen is not turned on. Nothing happened, just monitor's orange light is on but not green.
I tried everything I know. Plugged 8 PCI cables, and also plugged 6 with 8 and also 6 alone. But did not worked.
I plugged VGA to onboard and tried to install its DVD. After install finished doesn't worked.

I searched that this card's compatibility with current system and there isn't any obstacle. I don't understand that why isn't working.

Its led lights are on while computer is working. Also fans are working when I start conputer then stops.

I kindly request your help, my friends.

Bests,

But you can enter bios when you plug the monitor to onboard video, right?

Yes. I can open it on onboard. So I need to open it and set primary PCI e primary.

There are 4 different choices; IGFX, PCIe 1, PCIe2 and PCI. PCIe1 already selected. What should I do then?

based where you plug it
you can see beside your slot its pciex 1 or 2
or just set it to pciex 1 on bios then turn it off then plug your card to your fist pciex slot

If you can , try the card on another pc and see how it goes.
Try the second pci e on your motherboard too.

PCI1 is selected on BIOS. It says "No Cable Connected" when I plug it PCIx16 slot. After showing that warning screen is turned off.

no cable connected? its from your monitor?
try to clean your pciex slot then test it again
or move your card to second pciex slot, does it act the same?

Actually I can't try second PCIx slot. Because there are cables already pugged in and I can't plug the card completely. I sent a photo from my motherboard.

What cable are you using to connect to the screen?

Are you using DVI to DVI or are you using any type of converter?

I'm using for mu monitor vga to vga cable. But I added between the vga cable and the card DVI-D converter. Because the card needs to DVI -D.

I think this might be the problem then as from what i remember the newer cards like you have no longer support VGA over DVI anymore so that is probs why you just get a black screen.

Do you have any other screen you could test with like a tv with HDMI on it?

can i ask you what that means:
Plugged 8 PCI cables, and also plugged 6 with 8 and also 6 alone.

6 alone means you tried the gpu with only 6pin cable

Yeah I think your vga may be the problem... These new cards only do DVI-D (digital).

Cheers let us know how it goes :D i'm also pretty sure the issue is down to the 10xx cards no longer being able to do VGA over DVI.

I guess it's about my old monitor. I tried to run with on my tv with hdmi, and it's worked like magic. :D

I guess I have to buy HDMI monitor now. (4K preferably).

Yeah Nvidia removed the VGA side of things on the new cards and it sucks because i know many people who still use vga and i also have a few screens i use for testing people pc's on and they only have vga :(

I'm not sure if any other type of converter will work but if anyone else here at techpowerup knows of anything maybe you could post here. HDMI to VGA? Display port to VGA anyone know if these work?

Software Windows 11 pro 64bit
I installed the card drivers now and wil try to run with vga to dvi-d converter.

As i say that will not work as the DVI port can't output VGA anymore because Nvidia removed the vga part, only other options are to try HDMI to VGA or Display Port to VGA but i have no idea if that works either.

VGA to VGA with DVI-D converter didn't worked.

So I have to buy a new compatible monitor. Are all 4K PC monitors works with HDMI and especially with this card? I was used my old vard with my TV and there was delay on graphics and even mouse cursor.
