Disappointed with Asus (again)

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
.3v difference?? Was that a typo? It has to be. You weren't stable at 1.2v and now need 1.5v? It simply doesn't work that way. This is PEBKAC. You are missing something. If that is actually legit, you need to rma that board. .3v difference...lol!

I could go on and on about your examples, but.. I digress. :)

I'll leave these links here (hardware failure rates - use Google translate for the second): https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Most-Reliable-PC-Hardware-of-2015-749/

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/944-1/taux-retour-composants-13.html

Cliff notes on mobos:
- ASUS 1.89% (vs. 2.43%)
- Gigabyte 2.05% (vs. 2.96%)
- ASRock 2.08% (vs. 2.61%)
- MSI 2.55% %)

You should walk away from these thinking no brand is really any significant amount better than the other in most cases. There are individual duds in each brand, but overall you are talking 97%+ success across all brands with a point or so separating best from the worst (hardware.fr link). Perhaps that puts some perspective on things (and why I hate rants threads considering the extremely high success rates overall). :)

Nothing was worse than the A8N-SLI Deluxe. That board had soo many quality control issues. Back on another forum that I was a mod in some years ago, nothing but people coming in asking questions on how to fix this or that or the other thing.

I will i suppose.. it's just, you know, like, the time. All this time wasted, that's the issue here primarily :)
As to your last statement, i respect that view as it is very logical. But; what other way have i to show my lack of appreciation? As a customer? None other than my abstaining from buying their things; at least for some logical amount of time. Logical mind you!

LOL, let me call the waaaaaabulence for you. I'm pretty sure the X99 boards have been out so long that all the bugs would have been ironed out. Sounds like a PEBKAC issue.

Well, find out what are actually issues and not one offs or PEBKACs. Like I said, a board change doesn't cause a cpu to need .3v difference to become stable. Some variance, absolutely, but clearly, something else is going on.. whether you read it wrong or whatever software you are reading is reading it wrong. Dude, your cooling couldn't even handle that change so obviously, LOGICALLY, that isn't really possible.

Why not start a thread to iron that issue out? Include cpuz screenshot of first tab, motherboard, memory, and spd. Also show what Hwmonitor shows. Please include bios screesnhots of your settings. We are here for you. :)

Asus support is utter shit, you'd be better off dealing with a piece of lint. Their marketing is disingenuous, from my experience, and their prices are astronomical on most products.

I'll never purchase another Asus product again.

I've mostly only bought ASUS motherboards up until my current. They've always been good quality and trouble free for me.

I have, possibly, the cheapest X99 motherboard on the market right now (MSI X99A Raider) and it overclocked my 6800K well enough. It's possible that it is holding me back some, but I'm still happy with it. Just plugged a 1TB 960 EVO into it last night in fact, no problems booting up on it after cloning my old OCZ Vector 512gb SSD to it.

I agree with Earthdog on what he's saying. I don't often agree with him on many topics, but he's on point about your current motherboard. Either you missed something while overclocking on the board, or it's just a bad board that needs to be RMAd.

Also, IQ does not correlate necessarily to knowledge in specific aspects. Which you do note in your previous posts. What I'm getting at is that while Earthdog may have come across as abrasive in other posts, he really is trying to help you out in your knowledge gap areas.

Some boards have reversed labeling on LLC level settings in BIOS ...
OP may be applying highest level thinking he's applying lowest level.
Also LLC works differently when using turbo: it modifies default voltage/clock curve - it shifts the voltage ramp, so very little or none LLC needed, and differently when using constant clock&voltage: precise vdroop neutralization - exact LLC level picked to keep constant voltage at idle and load - not for 24/7

My PC has an 8 yr old ASUS ROG ii Extreme, i am the third owner, it O/C's my CPU brilliantly and every socket and feature still works.

Running Asus The Ultimate Force Sabertooth 990FX R2.0, overclocks this 8350 on Air to 5.0GHz just fine, had it for 2+ years now. Well built board, the one I had back in 2003 a P4S8X was a pita to get working right with a GPU in AGP 3.0 (8X)

The one brand I may have a beef with is Gigabyte with the several Revisions they make to some boards, the only ones that seem solid are what is in @manofthem and @ThE_MaD_ShOt rigs.

I have like 3rd ASUS board and they were all great. P5B Deluxe, Rampage II Gene and now Sabertooth X99. I do buy top of the line stuff though...

A P5B I had did a very respectable, 560fsb 1:1 with the ram. I also have had no trouble with Asus, but that Does not mean some Boards cannot have problems.

Certainly. I've had tons crap of problems with Gigabyte. Several boards. It's why I'm avoiding them even today. Are they still and all crap? Probably not. But we just tend to proactively avoid things we had bad experience with.

No, no, am aware; i think he is too, we're good (hopefully?). No misunderstanding on my part in that aspect :)

Let's say that you're unlucky with Asus Hardware as i am with W10:p

I'm definitely leaning towards that conclusion! :p

I should probably ask what your issues are with Win10 now, but am not sure if i want to know, lol
(three identical install+setups, like really identical, three different isues in each.. none were solved. Got lucky on the fourth [again like before, so why no issues this time around...?], so i don't even dare think about it too much case something else pops up!)

@Gasaraki If your aspiration is to come off as the most immature person around, you need strive for improvement; severely lacking thus far.
Tip for the future: terms such as 'waaambulance' only make us look juvenile and emotionally immature. General consensus denotes such qualities as negative. You may yet again however strive to prove everyone wrong. History has its way of surprising us all.

OP may be applying highest level thinking he's applying lowest level. Also LLC works differently when using turbo

I wish it was that. Would just say i'm dumb and call it a day :)
But i i did think of it and checked actual values in HWinfo to make sure i wasn't running it opposite. In as far as Turbo, it's off entirely.

As to making a thread about the OCing issues, to be frank i don't want to annoy anyone any further, least not before i decide that i'm "stuck" with this mobo; wouldn't want to trouble folks for nothing.

If i missed thanking anyone, due apologies btw :)

Rant threads trouble folks more than asking an overclocking question :p. Let's get your voltage straight in a proper thread... posting screenshots of what was asked for. We will get it solved if you give it a chance to be...

Give me a few hours to chill, just relax, do something non-PC related. When i think me calm enough, will decide if it's worth it (for me i mean) to dismantle everything again and put the new mobo back on, lol
(it's the psychological factor too, you know? How many more times must i do this **&$ and so on, lol)

And thanks for the patience. Noted :)
