looking to upgrade my 960

ok I really do like that card so hopefully I wont be disappointed, but it is a good upgrade from a 960. I don't have to have native 4k but it be close 1440p still looks good.

The 1070 and 1080 are perfect for 1440p, and good at 4K so you'll be happy with either of them. Comparing it to GTX 960 you'll have a massive improvement.

Ok thanks everyone for the help. I read the reviews on here then I make my decisions I let y'all know what I get and add some pics. And to also put it out there I'm hoping the 1070 will run the new fallout 4 texture update it says it needs a 1080 but I'm sure the 1070 will run it just fine my 960 runs it but I get low fps

If you plan to do 4k gaming on one GPU, and want to play all games at decent frames and settings, I'd recommend waiting for the 1080 Ti, and even Vega, which is rumored a couple months later (by end of May).

Keep in mind too that even if you aren't interested in Vega, it may very well keep the 1080 Ti at reasonable pricing. The last thing you want is to make a hasty decision, then end up face palming a couple months later.

Also keep in mind that you want to think about how what you buy will hold up 2 or 3 years down the road.

Yea I was looking at a 1080 last night on Amazon for 630 and today it went up in price to $650 so maybe I might wait to see what the 1080ti will do

I don't regret my 780ti purchase a couple years ago. Out performed the 970 (with the OC I run it at) and is about equal to a GTX 1060 now. $725 was a bit hard to pony up then, but I've gotten (and still getting) my money's worth out of it.

Odd, I've been seeing lots of 1080 promos on Newegg closer to $550 It kinda looks like Nvidia are gearing up for a launch price of $600-$650 on the 1080 Ti in anticipation of Vega, which will launch about 2 months after. Sign up for Newegg's email subscriber deals if you haven't. Even if you don't like them as a seller, it keeps you in tune with pricing trends.

I can't stress enough though that I would wait until Vega launches. AMD is kinda going viral right now just over Ryzen, and the same may happen with Vega, which will bring Intel and Nvidia prices down. Competition is always a win for consumers.

Well Amazon is pretty good too, but still, I would wait until Vega launches, even if you're firm on going Nvidia.

I would try and finds a used 1080 - which if you look around you can find one for the same price as a new 1070. If you do go for a 1070 though you will still be getting a whopping upgrade.

Just watch out for slow refresh rate if you are planning on using a 4K TV as opposed to a dedicated monitor. You will end up with a max of 4k@30Hz if you're not careful.

is there a big difference between base clock 1506 and 1860? i'm getting ready to buy so I can really use the advice before the 1506 sells out like the 1860 did
