Ok well in that case im leaning more towards that then since it would save me some money and I can save up for a year and get a whole new platform. Thanks.

Benchmark Scores Cinebench R15: 948 (stock) / 1044 (4,7 GHz) FarCry 5 1080p Ultra: min 100, avg 116, max 133 FPS
Neither of them. If you have 1080p monitor, an RX 470 4GB will rock for the next 3 years and will be able to push all games on maximum settings. I tested Asus Strix RX 470 4GB with Far Cry Primal at 1080p with settings on ultra and it literally flies.
RX 480 8GB will be a better option if you plan to keep it for the next 4-5 years, although even the RX470 will suffice.

Here is one RX 480 for 200$: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202275&cm_re=rx_480-_-14-202-275-_-Product
Here you have an RX 470 for 165$ : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126124&cm_re=rx_470-_-14-126-124-_-Product

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I would not get a 470 and expect it to last for 3+ years at 1080p... I mean, I want Ultra settings with AA at 1080p... that is NOT 470 territory now, none the less in 3 years...

The 470 wouldn't be much better than my 960 so no, I want a card that will run circles around my 960 not a small upgrade.

True, but a 1060 or fury would give me nearly double the performance.

The Fury is too old. Get the 1060 even though it's slightly less powerful. At 1080p you'll do just fine with the GTX1060.

Ok so i have a couple of updates pertaining to the cpu, first the i5 2500k listing on ebay seems to be gone and im unable to find anything like it for the same price.

Also a buddy of mine offered to sell me his pc for $300 and it has an fx 8350, 16 gbs of gaming ram i think its gskill ripjaws or hyper x I cant remember even though i am the one that built it lol, a 2 tb solid state hybrid drive, an msi motherboard, 800 watt psu, ddvd rw drive and a gtx 570 which i dont need, so i would get it as a test bed gpu or sell it for whatever i could get for it and i would buy a new case if i buy it since the case is pretty old.

And I am currently working at data center as a tranie tech and the guy who has been training me game me a xeon 2667 6 core lga 1150 cpu, its between an i5 4650? I think and i7 4770, only problem is it could be bad. He pulled it from a server that was malfunctioning and after he swapped it with a new cpu the server was running like normal so since i don't have a 1150 motherboard I have no way to test it.

So what you guys reccomend i do? Buy,my buddies pc or take a gamble with the xeon?

Don't get an 8350, its slow as hell.

xeon e5-2667 is socket 2011
http://ark.intel.com/products/64589...E5-2667-15M-Cache-2_90-GHz-8_00-GTs-Intel-QPI

Heres some options

2500K
http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTEL-CORE-...914215?hash=item4d54117da7:g:-98AAOSw-0xYQRlH $86
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gigabyte-Te...980025?hash=item4b1243cb39:g:JNEAAOSwWxNYnN8x $55
Samsung 8GB Kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-8GB...165857?hash=item1c7cefaaa1:g:-80AAOSwx6pYoh23 $40
Coolermaster 212
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Excellent-C...518581?hash=item21213c4475:g:VPoAAOSwCU1Yr2v- $16

Total $197

You should be able to overclock to atleast 4.2, probably 4.5 with the 2500K.
Z77XD3H is a decent mobo. I have similar version its worked well for 4 years now.
The samsung ram is good ram, I think that model can overclock well if you want or just leave it stock, I'd leave it stock for stability, it is 1600Mhz anyway.
212 is a great heatsink.

If you want future proof maybe get ivy bridge for PCI-E 3.0 instead of the 2500K
like this i5 3570k currently $59 plus shipping $7
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-...452768?hash=item41be87eae0:g:VnAAAOSw2gxYrRDF
Might end up being cheaper then the 2500K if you snipe it. Its about 5-10% faster per clock, but 2500K usually clock higher.

Another option is a i7 3770 non K. They don't seem to go for much and you should still be able to overclock it slightly by 200 MHz. I think you can run 4.1 GHz on it. Stock turbo 3.9, usually they let you get +2 multi, giving you 4.1. Some of them go for $50-100 on eBay.
example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-...575250?hash=item361345cbd2:g:Ov8AAOSw~AVYsEi5

proof that the 2500K/SKT 1155 still kicks ass:

Thank you, i will definitely give those a look and i was going to get that cpu cooler and thats the cheapest ive seen it go for, there usually 30 or more.

I will be buying my parts sometime next week as well, i want 16 gbs of ram though, i saw a 16 gig kit used on ebay for 20 but i was gone last time i looked.

Regardless of what i buy i will getting a new platorm in about a years time, since i got this new job it will be easier to save up for better hardware and the main reason i am doing a new build now is because my current one is starting to struggle with some of the newer games coming out otherwise i would wait for a while.

And from that benchmarking post the 2500 would be pretty close to the 6500 in gaming? That's insane lol.

And if that gigabyte board isn't available would this board allow me to get a good overclock from that CPU http://m.ebay.com/itm/INTEL-DH77KC-...%3A7446ed4115a0a350d8e75aefffeab9a7%7Ciid%3A1

Well the sandy bridge 2500 is similar in peformance to skylake 6500 if the 6500 had the same DDR3 spec'd ram as the 2500K, the 2500K can't use DDR4 so it is limited in speed. Shows how little Intel has done in the past few years. From my testing, ram doesn't seem to make that big a difference but if you find a good ram kit like 2400 MHz, it would be nice to have for sure and go a long way in keeping your system relevant for a few more years. If you can find a 3770K or 3570K for cheap, get those instead of a 2500K, they would give you PCI-E 3.0 which grants a lot more bandwidth for videocards. They are ivy bridge, a refinement of sandy bridge. Not a big deal yet but as videocards become more powerful the bandwidth might be more relevant in the future.

That intel board probably won't OC well, you really want a Z77 chipset board. I would avoid Intel Mobo. Also avoid EVGA mobo. Good boards to look for are Asus, Asrock, Gigabyte, MSI. You could also do Z68 which supports both ivy and sandybridge, but it won't do PCI-E 3.0.

Skt 1155, you would need a bios update before slaving in a New shiny gpu.

Since intel started dropping prices due to ryzen im goin to keep my eyes open for sales, microcenter is currently selling a 6600k for 180$, maybe I can find one a little cheaper used or a 6500k but online vendors would need to adjust there prices as well.

Id love to buy that or the 6500 or even a 5th gen i5 k version, i am goin to keep looking now i keep seeing random ryzen benchmarks coming out but i havent seen anything for there entry level to mid range chips as of yet so i am curious to how they will perform.

I might be able to stretch my budget a little bit over the 700 mark but i dont know as of yet.

Edit I found an i5 3570k on eBay for 120$ and if I buy it I plan on overclocking, would this board be good for over clocking?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/272352297748?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-117182-37290-0%2F2%3Fmtid%3D1588%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D164966280387_324272%26itemid%3D272352297748%26targetid%3D272013066120%26rpc%3D0.25%26rpc_upld_id%3D108527%26device%3Dm%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fulk%252Fitm%252Flike%252F272352297748%253Flpid%253D82%2526chn%253Dps%26adtype%3Dpla%26googleloc%3D9022858%26poi%3D%26campaignid%3D714348682%26adgroupid%3D36536579279%26rlsatarget%3Dpla-272013066120%26gclid%3DCj0KEQiA88TFBRDYrOPKuvfY2pIBEiQA97Z8MXPJvzHrFCcOd219qhfkj-hDmcgx_6WOJ9PzVQ2FwKgaAj0w8P8HAQ%26srcrot%3D711-117182-37290-0%26rvr_id%3D1173798308318&ul_noapp=true

And does ram effect overclocking? For example I found a few 16 gig kits on eBay for 60 bucks but they where basic ram probably pulled from pre builds, if I could save some money from using that ram instead of "gaming" I would like to be able to.

Thanks

You won't be able to overclock on b75. Some boards let you get 100 or 200 mhz but its not going to give you an unlocked multiplier like z77 would. z68 and p67 also will let you overclock, pretty old now though. You really should aim for Z77 with Ivy Bridge since it gives you PCIE 3.0 if you want your system long term.
Also board has some dubious reviews on newegg https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130651.

Ram will effect CPU overclock in the sense that unstable ram will make it harder to get a stable system. Also higher voltage ram will result in more heat for your CPU because the memory controller is located on the CPU's die. You should get ram that runs with 1.5V or lower for best results. You could always just get an 8GB kit, 16 isn't necessary with the current games.

I like my samsung 30nm hyk0 green ram, I own 6 kits of it and they are all awesome.

$120 for a 3570k isn't bad. Also like i said check out the 3770 not the 3770K. People don't pay as much for it but it can run as fast as 4.1Ghz and it has 8 threads, not a bad chip at all. Might be an even better deal long term, I run my 3770K stock most of the time and it kills all games even at stock speeds.

I just priced the i7 3770s on eBay, for 160$ that's pretty good, what would be a good motherboard around 50 years to 70$ you would recommend for that CPU?

And since I won't overclock that processor would basic ram hold me back in any way?

It can. You want to be running the highest speed ram you can. I'd suggest at least 2400MHz for a 3570 or 3770.

There's a sweet deal on a 3570K/Z77 bundle here.

I have to restrain myself from buying that one. I bet that mobo OCs pretty nicely. 13 phase power! :rockout:

You could probably OC that GSkill ram pretty nicely too(possibly to 2400MHz even). Then you'd be SET UP!

EDIT: Oh...and about that MSI MS-7758 B75A-G43. No. You don't want that for OCing.

The reason I like the fury x is because the pcb is so small. All high end GPUs need to start using HBM memory. The smaller footprint makes more room for a beefy VRM.

Between GTX 1060 and R9 Fury, I think I'd still take R9 Fury despite being more power hungry. I mean, R9 Fury is like one level higher graphic card even though it's not the X version. And with Vulkan and DX12 games, it's far better.

Check out those bundles ramirez is selling, he has some nice setups there.
The 3770S (not 3770 or 3770k) has lower clock speed but I believe a Z77/z68/P67 board will let you overclock it to run turbo all the time, should be 3.9 GHz or maybe +2 bins for 4.1, not sure. Its the economy 3770. I'd go for 3770 or better yet 3770K if you can instead but if you do get a good mobo might not matter with the S model because you can lock turbo to all cores 3.9 ghz instead of 3.1.

Good mobo: z77, z68, p67.

3570K bundle (Biostar TZ77XE3 mobo, 3570k CPU, 8GB GSkill PC1600 Cas 8, Artic CPU Cooler, SB Audigy 2ZS PCI soundcard) $235 shipped
Good deal!
