New 1070

Looking to buy one this week, any suggestions on make model? I've been using an AMD 280x since 2013 and I'm not current on which brand has the most stable/best product anymore.

Appreciate any input, I was looking at the MSI ones, but I'll listen to any rational input.

BTW I live in the USA.

MSI Gaming X 8G 1070 or EVGA SC 1070 are my favourites. Asus Strixx 1070 is nice too, but a bit more expensive. Those are my fav brands. All 3 feature great cooling and low noise, look good (have LEDs) and so on.

No problems here with MSI GTX1070 Gaming X, fast and quiet!
No coil whine.

I do not recommend buying a Gigabyte since it suffered from fan issues.

Why is it when I go to buy something i'm always perpetually waiting for the new better thing?!

I do like how vega is shaping up and i've been using AMD since 2010, last nvidia i owned was 8800gts. I would like some better linux support though, but i'll mainly be gaming on Win 10.

for vega you have to wait till end of April early May (rumors not officially confirmed yet). long time if you need to upgrade.
waiting 5 days (confirmed from both camps) however may give you reason to wait a little more and save some money or to purchase next day if there isnt anything that worth waiting.
your money. you decide how to spend em :toast:

Went with the msi 1070, 2070 is same gpu with upgraded vram, so whatever. Not waiting for Vega, been waiting over a year to finish this build. Already really happy with it, bf1 looks great in dx12.

I think next gen GeForce will be named 1280 and so on, but 1180 is possible too. With Maxwell they skipped 8xx naming and went straight to 9xx, I think because it was a new architecture that was "worth" the jump. They could do the same now again, because Volta will be a new architecture as well.
