Hey guys, i bought a V4800 GDDR5 1GB card, for gaming and whatever else and everything is working great. Amazing actually, the card even performs way faster than my GTX 550 i was using, which is strange , but oh well. Anyways, i am using the lastest drivers, but was curious about something called Mantle . Something about how its not install, is there a mantle driver for firepro cards?

Mantle is a gaming oriented API. I don't think the firepro series supports it. I could be wrong though.

I still have a V3900 somewhere. I remember it was a powerful card that was great with most 3D applications.

Thanks for the link. Yea these firepro cards are out of this world, im running ever game tested so far at max settings or near it, at 1600x900 or 1920x1080 without any problems. I know my xeon 3220 is helping, but this card is amazing. Only for 20 dollars too. :)

Oh alright, was just curious.

mantle was 7xxx forward iirc, and not enterprise based. thats not a "gaming card", it was intended for a different purpose, biut they Do have a decent chunk of HP for what they Were intended for....which rendering Is a part of.

Yea this is a terrascale 2 card based on the 5670. I don't think it supports much of anything.

Yeah a firepro will get the job done gaming wise. For the most part
Had a buddy years ago that had a really nice workstation at the time for his job. Like dual optys, boat loads of ram and hard drives, some very expensive firepro.
He would pack that damn thing up and bring it to LAN parties!! We gave him so much hell cause we all had to help him. Justin and his damn boat anchor!!! It was heavy!!!

Other than some driver issues sometimes it did fine. Hell his did better than ours most of the time cuz he didn't mess with it at all. We was always messing around with our rigs.

indeed, back when 1gb of vram was "decent" and 512Mb's wasnt unheard of... like nvidia with those damn 1280mb gtx570

Edited: I fixed the screen issue and framerate issue. Had to disable 3D display options in the visual settings. But its working now 45-60fps fullscreen.

Gaming wise, the card will perform almost identically to a HD5670. Firepro(and Quadro) cards are usually pretty comparable to their gaming equivalent desktop cards, they just have extra professional features added.

That being said, there is no way it is playing any modern games at 1080p at anything near high settings.

I had a XFX 5750 and the V4800 outperforms it, it's also faster than the GTX 550 ti. And this card doesn't even have a 6 pin connector. It's very possible though when i was using the q6600 and 5750 or q6600 and gtx 550 ti i was getting a bottleneck. I believe certain cpus works best with certain cards and i seem to have found a great combo with the xeon 3220 and V4800. The only game ATM i can't run at all is Paragon. But i just bought this card to game with my old games, mid to some new ones. Path of exlie sure works amazing, 80-100fps max at 1600x900. Warframe 1600x900 almost max , 40-60fps, but i use MLAA so its lower framerate but still runs the same.

That being said, there is no way it is playing any modern games at 1080p at anything near high settings.
Yea i know, , these are the games i have install ATM, all work great :) Have to install about 25 more games and i plan to buy a X3360 and 4GB of more ram(8gb) and that will be it for this Dell 780.

Not possible in any way. Also, the Q6600 and X3220 are 100% identical, the X3220 doesn't even have any extra instruction sets.

Well i can't explain. :) Unless because the 550 ti and 5750 both require a 6 pin, my Thermaltake TR2 wasn't powerful enough to run them good. All i know every game i have install right now, runs way better now than it ever did when i was using a q6600 and 550 ti or xfx. certain setups runs things differently i guess. Cheers :)

Compare the specs of the xeon to that q6600, the 550ti was a budget grade gpu to begin with.

Iirc mantle has been replaced by vulkan and dx12.

Enjoy your firepro though.

Q6600 and X3200 are the same. After testing alot of my games, the only games that ran better using the 550 ti vs the firepro is Paragon(I can't even run this game on low settings with the V4800) and Brink(Slightly lower framerate , but runs alright). Every other game using the firepro runs better so far, way better.

Enjoy your firepro though.
Thanks. I'm buying the X3660(more extensions, higher speed, 12MB cache) soon though and 4 more gb of ram to make it 8GB and that would be it for this computer. This Summer i will build a powerful AMD/Nvidia System(secondary rig).
