Im sure 'Dolby' is nothing more than a marketing gimmick help them to sell more 'surround sound' headphones. While its nothing more then a software layer or wrapper that takes stereo sound signal and 'upmixs' it for a pseudo surround sound experience.

It will probably sound like junk and anyone that does buy this headset probably wont use the feature

Added to htoeadset is decoder and software devices. But they tell us all what we already know about the headphones and nothing of the added .So what decoder which has the working specifications. The price is a little higher than say the Creative Blaster H7, which has a high-quality components and unobjectionably hay end sound with good mikrrofonom for a little less money.
I recently bought a Hiperx Cloud and did not reach praised quality of the sound .Blaster H5 for now in thick advantage.

Erm... yes, you have described exactly what Dolby headphone is. But All Surround Sound is psuedo given that we only have two ears. Our brain interprets the location a sound comes from based on evidence it receives from both ears... actually, the internets is much better place for learning about this stuff. Read up about head-related transfer function (HRTF).

In terms of what it sounds like. Grab yourself a semi-decent pair of headphones then watch:

For a good example.

YES, Dolby headphone WILL sound worse, as will all virtual surround sound. But it's about tricking the brain into thinking sound is coming from different locations. It can be a very powerful immersion tool.
