I looked at some reviews for GTX 980 blocks (geforce 10 series GPU block reviews are scarce). came down to these two brands. from what I gather, the qua computer blocks are best overall, but heatkiller are better for the GPU itself, but not as good for the memory? is that right?

I've used EK blocks for sometime, but it looks like there are better products out now, so I'm going to try out other brands.

also, what's the story with the aquacomputer blocks that are painted black? anybody have experience with those? I would think that painting the copper block would reduce the heat conductance.

IMO alphacool have the best blocks, in as far as they have backplates which really work, but to a degree look ugly as hell..

As for Aqua computer, they are full copper block, which is fine, just make sure your rads are not aluminium otherwise the block will corrode.

The heatkiller is a full cover block ( a bit more pleasing for the eye ) but is a nickel plated block that is less susceptible to corrosion and also wont be dyed as quick by color coolants compared to the copper block.

alphacool consistently makes garbage, and doesn't honor their warranties. I had two alphacool "eisberg" reservoirs develop cracks out of the blue in their tubes. one after 6 months the other after 9. I researched this after it happened the second time, and it appears to be very common. alphacool won't replace the tubes. you can't even buy replacement rubes anywhere! they told me deal with the people who sold it. they basically told me to f**k myself. their blocks also do a shit job of cooling VRAM. I also had an alphacool 45* adapter fitting leak. this thing. I wouldn't put their garbage in my computer even they paid me to.

As for Aqua computer, they are full copper block, which is fine, just make sure your rads are not aluminium otherwise the block will corrode.

I'm not sure where you get your information from, but it's wrong on every level. both the aquacomputer and heatkiller blocks are available with nickel plating and well as bare copper. in either case, I would never buy bare copper blocks anyway. and both are full cover blocks that cool the GPU, memory and VRMs. the only problem is they are on back order everywhere. the heat killer block is made longer just for the looks, but functionally it's the same thing.

anyway, both the heatkiller and aquacomputer blocks are back ordered until doomsday, so I as forced to go with EK again
