Hi,

Got a Pc Power Cooling Turbo-Cool 1200 that has a 3.3v rail being read by hwinfo and other utilities at 2.98v. Read that the 3.3v rail is adjustable but the dial is inside the psu. Guys think its safe to remove the case and make an adjustment?

Thank you.

Do you have any problem with it ? If not , don't mess with it. If you do , don't mess with it and replace it/RMA it. Also I don't think there is a single software monitor program that reads voltages correctly 100%.

Occasionally my sound card device will stop working while gaming and only work again when the drivers are reinstalled or device re-enabled in device manager. Someone told me its because of a weak 3.3 v rail but I am overclocking the heck out of a 7 year old system.

Edit: If I had to pop the case of the psu with rubber gloves and turn a dial should be an easy task?

Tolerance for the 3.3V rail is between something like 3.1V-3.5V. Everything is technically designed to work with that in mind, so chances are if it really was this the issue , the system would not even power on. It is most likely the card itself.

Look in the bios and it will give proper reading.

Use a Digital Multimeter on a 3 volt line while you adjust. I have an older OCZ 650w with the 3 screws on the back for each line: 12v, 5v, 3.3v. It takes very little to adjust. DO NOT GO HEAVY HANDED. Think barely breathing on it will make the correct adjustment.

Sounds risky. Maybe I'll leave well enough alone. Curious though.

Anyhow just bought a PSU tester by Thermaltake. Problem is it takes reading when psu isnt under load so readings useless.

Go ahead and adjust it. It's out of warranty and 10 or so years old, so there is no RMA. Use a DMM, software is garbage. GL

I just don't want to end up dead. If system gets really unstable then maybe. Just bugs me seeing it reported under spec. Why couldnt they have placed those dials on the outside!

Disconnect OS SSD/HD drives.

12v line may be weak as well. I had to adjust the 12v and 3.3v. The 5v was spot on.

Just be careful. Those capacitors can still hold a good amount of voltage. Don't get zapped!!

Because people are button pushers/dial twisters. You would have every dumbass in the world turning them, thus costing PCP&C a fortune in RMA's.

Do you have life Insurance that pays out to your widow if you do something stupid an kill yourself
That photo is from a review site. Its not my own.
that is good you have not opened the PSU
IF you do open it it needs to be FULLY DISCHARGED BEFORE OPENING
If you have to ask how to discharge it leave it well alone
Just be careful. Those capacitors can still hold a good amount of voltage. Don't get zapped!!

IF IN DOUBT BUY A SUITABLE REPLACMENT

I read that to completely discharge the psu you should leave it unplugged for a day at least and press power button. Sounds too risky. Anyhow adjusting the rail would need it powered on to see the voltage with a volt meter anyhow. Maybe ill hire an electrician to help out. Let someone else risk their life. Lol.

Rather than hire an electrician, you buy 2 high quality PSU's for the same price?
