Hey guys, so last night when I was on my pc and after watching the walking dead I decided to check my system temps using speedfan and hwinfo 64 i noticed my motherboard was at 65c.

So naturally I panicked and rebooted my system and went to bios and it stated it was at 32c and i resumed booting into windows i checked them and they both stated at idle my temps where in the high 40s it leads me to believe those software readings might be innacurate.

I also did more testing by running dark souls 3 for about 30 minutes and the game ran fine, and when playing ds3 my temps where around 71c.

Wouldn't my motherboard shut down on fry itself at those temps?

try AIDA64 for those readings. Anyway, that seems a bit hot for motherboard temps, maybe hot air is vented over the sensor? Or some fan isn't working properly anymore? Or you need better airflow in your pc case.

I just built this pc about a week ago and i have 5 case and all are working properly.

And I will try that software you recommended to me.

Speedfan seems accurate to me... my CPU cores usually run around 29C with core 1 running at 32C, and my GPU at about 40C at idle

From my experience all popular monitoring software report the same temperatures , that being said they may still not be accurate. That is definitely a high mb temperature.

Benchmark Scores A million on everything....
For me, "motherboard" temps used to read roughly the same as CPU temps and "northbridge" temps used to be just above ambient. Until I got an AIDA update, and it switched the "motherboard" and "northbridge" temps. And it also added a lot of other features that my motherboard supported, like readings for my VRMs and power usage.

Try AIDA, run a stress test and watch how the graph reacts while stressed and at idle. It might just be calling another sensor the "motherboard"... or something. Make sure you've got all the latest versions of whatever software you use.

Buying an AIDA key is totally worth it, they update it a lot. Otherwise, like everybody else says, HWiNFO64 is great software that's free. I run sensors for HWiNFO all day long while I crunch for this spring contest... AIDA I'll run if I'm wanting all the graphs combined, normally I only use AIDA when I'm stress testing, HWiNFO is a huge jumble of sensors and readings and can be somewhat confusing when you need to just glance at a couple temps--you can customize the hell out of it though if you wanna spend the time.

HWinfo here, i did set run sensors only at startup, also did a re-order on some sensors and its running always at the background, that app allow you to see several features, temps, readings and several other information about your system running,
Also comparing Bios temps and fan speed when computer its on bios will show minimized system services and only hardware slowly running cuz bios its a bit simple compared to windows ambiance when system and several services are on,

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Heh.. I haven't touched speed fan since the Athlon X2 days... its so antiquated (looking) and never worked right for me then.

For JUST temps, I stick with Realtemp for Intel and Coretemp for AMD. Hwmonitor and Hwinfo are good sources, however, their sensors can be confusing at times...

For the record, the BIOS seems to have more of a load on it than windows. Notice how temps idling in the BIOS are always a few C warmer than idle in windows?

Cool half story...

...and in windows, what are your idle temps...........?

I wasn't saying its stress testing in the bios, LOL, just that there is more of a load (higher temps), than when at idle in windows.

25c, temps might be lower on windows idle cuz i have several services disabled, but its interesting since never in my life i have put some little attention on those 10c temps difference, thanks for coming up with something new for me,

Regards.
