The CODE keyboard is a collaboration between a keyboard manufacturing company and a famous software developer, making it designed with one thing in mind - lots of typing. Offering rare Cherry MX Green and MX Clear switches, and dip switches to toggle between pre-programmed keyboard layouts, the CODE is built to last and built to code on.

Nice review but..... it needs a warning sticker: "Local product".... No traces of language layouts for many of us.

EDIT: it is great, really. I looked at the main product page and it said "US" and "Int" layout. Only when you go into ordering you get choices and a lot!

Congrats! :respect:

Nice review but..... it needs a warning sticker: "Local product".... No traces of language layouts for many of us. And no availability either... What's the point? Put it on techpowerup.us ?

Check the link in the final page: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/code-keyboard.html

Lots of options for layouts. As usual, a company based in the USA will have products shipped from their base in the USA. You can buy this from them or other retailers.

Is that your personal Amazon affiliate code? I am not sure that is allowed tbh.

But to answer your question, I have a draft of a $26 keyboard submitted and in the queue. I don't mind covering any keyboard, but I am not going to buy any when I have a LOT to cover already.

Interesting that they are called WASD and yet don't have any keyboards (that I could see) that highlight those particular keys like other brands do.......Not that I actually want one because I hate WASD and use ESDF anyway :p

Looks nice, I love the minimal black and white look. I bought meselfa very, very cheap Kailh yellow switches keyboard and I am pretty confident it will last me a while.

This is a really nice keyboard, but I'd rather have the original WASD keyboard with backlit keys.

That's part of how the two are differentiated, the CODE has backlighting whereas the V2 has custom keycaps.

Yep. That and the CODE keyboard is only available in few layouts besides the US layout (I think it's UK, SW and DE).

One of great keyboard.
But I would choose rather WASD V2 87-TKL and PBT keycaps.

TPU please ask Filco Convertible 2 for test and than organize giveaway, Cherry MX Brown.
I wish badly that keyboard. :)
I would like to replace original Filco keycaps with Ducky Dark Grey side printed Laser Etched Side Printed.

Easier said than done, Filco haven't responded to multiple emails regarding this.

What? They don't want to give one sample of Convertible 2 keyboard?
Weird. If everything inside is as Majestouch 2 than that's incredible keyboard.
Work with cable and without cable on any USB. Customers could replace keycaps because it's compatible with almost all sets.
There is DS PBT and there is one special set of double shot ABS for Filco with big fonts. That's expensive set arround 50-70$.
I would use these two sets... one is ABS and one is PBT...

This last set is specific for Filco keyboards Majestouch 2 and Convertible 2 models.
Look sick, that's keyboard for me. Not RGB. Total price of Filco plus set is arround 250-260$ but worth every cent. Filco keyboard could be improved even further with specific aluminum case + 150$ in different colors, even silver.

Imagine silver case and these ABS keycaps with big fonts.
Incredible. I would give 10 RGB keyboards for that.
But WASD V2 is one of best keyboard on market for people who prefer quality not RGB.

It's more about the Japanese companies not caring about other markets so they don't spend much money on marketing and reviews outside of Japan. Topre, HHKB, Filco all the same.

I just bought one of these based on this review. A little late, but it'll be interesting to see how my experience goes, nontheless. I will be replacing the keycaps first thing, so thanks for the advice there (I hate keycaps that wear down, PBT is a must for me).

You bought CODE keyboard and you will replace keycaps or WASD V2 with PBT keycaps?
CODE Keyboards have UV Coater ABS keycaps. WASD V2 have option with PBT.

One of nicest keyboard on market WASD V2 87 Dark Grey Double Shoot PBT keycaps is out of stock for almost all keys. MX Clear are for my best for typing, MX Black best for gaming and MX Brown are for me best universal options for gamers and typing. If someone like click I recommend to check Green keycaps.
On PBT keycaps every noise is little louder and Brown could sound closer to Blue than on ABS. Except that's not click, you hear bump of keycaps. ABS are for me almost as rubber, I don't like that. But ABS are definitely better for backlight.
If you need kecaps for CODE I suggest Vortex Translucent Double Shoot PBT keycaps.
They are designed for keyboards with backlight. But you must be ready that not will look clean as ABS.
And I like PBT much more but for Filco Convertible 2 I would definitely try Double Shoot ABS from picture I post, they look great, and shape of keys is nice. But that's most expensive ABS keycaps set on market, up to 70$, double shot mould ABS.

Investing in expensive and nice keyboard is not losing money, that's only hardware constantly in direct contact with owner. And if keyboard is build nice, could be and several years old model she will last long long time, what could happen, only after some time customer could replace spacers or springs and there is turorials how to do that. And keycaps will stay same. In most keyboards service could repalce and them after several years. Good keyboard with good PCB proven on market as durable is best choice. I try to avoid new complicate keyboards, they use RGB light and need more power and much easier to something die than keyboards from 2010-2011 and models from 1990th and 1980th.

Replacing keycaps seems like a fools game to me though, tbh. If I were to splurge $150 on a keyboard (and I could see myself doing that had I the money) the very idea of replacing keycaps ... just makes me vexed. Understanding of the very basic concept eludes me.

Look at the selection of keyboards that come with PBT keycaps, and it suddenly becomes more understandable.

It also might help you to relate when you think of the keyboard as a neccessary tool, not a splurgey want. Us journalists qualify for that.

Yeah I totally understand the expense. I do. But it feels like buying a new car and having to replace the trim. "Yeah it's awesome, but you have to replace one of the things that makes it what it is."
