Computer has power but nothing happens.

Yesterday my mouse stopped working so I changed the batteries but it still didn't work. While I changed the batteries again I noticed that my computer shutdown. After that it wouldn't start again. It has power but nothing comes on the screen. Not even the bios screen.

I tried a different video card, changed the ram and a different hard drive but none of the those things did anything. I put the original video card back in and now the fans won't spin on it but the small LED light shows that it is getting power. When I put the other video card in the fans spin on it.

Is it the MoBo?

Most likely the Mobo unless you dropped something in there that is shorting it out. Or plugged something in that is shorting the USB or something

Getting power does not mean it is getting all the voltages it should. The power supply needs to output +3.3V, +5V and +12V. I recommend you swap in a spare, known good power supply to verify you are supplying all the necessary voltages before thinking about buying a new motherboard.

didn't change the input on your monitor by chance did you ?

Try unplugging everything aside from the monitor and starting it

Make sure display cable is plugged in and secured

Also try popping out the CMOS battery for a while

Obvious but, it happens

Someone who has a fair bit of knowledge suggested that ......

"Common symptom,psu is shot. Last thing to try is swap the front panel power and reset switches. Otherwise take the whole setup out of the case."

I've got everything pulled apart. Gonna put it back together and hopefully it works. All of it is less than two years old.

Keep us posted. And remember to observe proper ESD precautions. That is, make sure you unplug the computer from the wall and you touch bare metal of the case interior BEFORE you reach in near any component to discharge any static in your body.

I'm taking the mobo and psu in tomorrow to get checked. I'm kinda hoping it's the psu!

I'd say the Motherboard has died.
I just stripped a system that had similar symptoms, no display at all, not even BIOS, no matter what I did or changed.
It's of to the Motherboard graveyard for that one.

Definitely better if the PSU. Much easier to find one that meets your needs and much easier to swap out. If the motherboard is bad, you have to worry about ensuring the new motherboard is compatible with your current RAM and processor, or be ready to replace them too. Then you are talking some serious cash. And swapping motherboards greatly increases the potentials for accidental damage to the motherboard, RAM and CPU via mishandling, and yes, ESD.

Plus, in terms of software licensing, unless you replace the motherboard with an exact replacement motherboard (same brand and model number), a new motherboard is considered a new computer, which means a new Windows license to be legal if the old one is an OEM/System Builder's license (as the vast majority are). This includes Windows 10 licenses that were obtained by upgrading from W7/W8 OEM licenses. If you purchased W10 separately, then you can legally transfer with no problems and are good to go. Don't shoot the messenger.

It is if you leave it running none stop for two or three years. Makes them old fast!

Turns out it was the CPU!! So I picked up a FX-6300. I have three days left on my warranty for the old one. I'm gonna ship it off tomorrow and sell it when I get it.

So now for some ungodly reason, my audio is crackling and cutting in and out with all my sources (realtek, corsair headphones and my receiver). Plus one of my 4pin fan headers isn't working.
