Thermal Pad Replace EVGA GTX 1070 SC help

28-3-2016 i confirmed my adress to ewga to get my thermal pad mods for my evega gtx 1070 sc.

Today i asked on a forum, one said 5-6 weeks

I don't want to wait any more, where can i buy thermalpads? (It must be able be delivered to denmark)

you might to measure the current thermal pads cuz they come on different sizes, some wider than others... also some people might have replaced their own ones on the same video card, you could change topic subject for better help, for example "thermal Pad Replace EVGA GTX 1070 SC help", this will help others that might have done it coming here to help !

Also thermal pads are easily found on most PC Repairs & hardware Stores, also online, Arctic cooling for example are ultra recommended,
where are you from ? that will be useful help...

Some thermal pads are 0.5 mm some 1.0,1.5 mm thick and i don't know if the thickness is the same for the vrm's

Most pads silicone based and squishy...Thus they will fit when screwed down with a little pressure.

Ebay has thermal pads dirt cheap.

No, what temps vram and anthing else that gets varm has, i don't know.

Just know a have a card without the thermal pads and just don't want to wait another 1-3 weeks to get my free thermal pads

damaged, my GTX 980 had some damaged ones, also when replacing paste i did screw some, replaced with Arctic, i did measure them...still no issues and had used: 0.5, 1.0 & 1.5mm ones...

i used mostly 0.5mm 1.00mm not al video cards are the same, also the diference is minimal, 1.5mm are wat too thick for me, dunno how wrong will be using the thicker ones...

I've been an owner of the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW.

And I returned it within 14 days free of cost. I was looking at the same issue as you are now. There is one key difference though, and that is you are running a SUPERCLOCKED and not an FTW.

The FTW allows higher power targets and as a consequence will run hotter VRMs. That being said, the issue was with 1080 FTW's and the 1070's have a lower TDP budget on the exact same cooling solution. IOW for a 1070 these pads really aren't necessary, and for a SC 1070 you can really save yourself the trouble altogether.

Now keep in mind the FTW was running over 100-110 C near two VRAM blocks at VRM next to it, while those VRAM are rated for 95 C, end result = dead card. The Superclocked tops out at 95 C which is perfectly normal - its hot, but it won't kill your card.

Bottom line: don't bother.

And also, MORAL OF THE STORY: DONT FUCKING TRUST YOUTUBERS AND READ DECENT REVIEWS. <- I have said this many times.

I'm getting it for free so i'm using it, but it takes a long time to arrive.

Have just bought some gelid GC Extreem one of the best thermal paste and i plan to do my use it and also do my cpu cooler

Have to write evga again 3 weeks is to long, even when it's for someting that is free

i signed and received mine 1 week after from EVGA website...... since my card doesn't reach 72c (core temp) no updated bios just default settings havent worried or touched the bios or installing the pads...
you remind me to be cautious and apply the pads.

Even when the thermalpad only give -2 degrees, i would do it, it's free and makes the fans spin later (it takes just a bit more befor the card get's hot and the fans starte to be noticeable) also thermal throtteling would happen later

The sensor isn't on the PCB, so adding pads won't change a thing about your fan speeds. GPU core will be exactly the same temp as before.
