What would be considered a golden sample for an I5 7600k ?

5 ghz @ 1.3v benchmark/stress test stable
5.1 ghz @ 1.31v benchmark/stress test stable
5.2 ghz @ 1.36v benchmark stable
5.3 ghz @ 1.37v

5.2ghz @ 1.36v. 2 cores fail Prime95 after 2 or 3 tests. Pretty sure I'm hitting a thermal limit.

I'm in windows at 5.3ghz @ 1.37v

Can't get windows to boot at 5.4ghz. I only went up to 1.41v though.

I have seen 5.3Ghz that could run Geekbench at around 1.35V pretty sure that is consider golden sample

Meh... many can hit 5.2...its just at what voltage...

I'm pretty happy with it. The first 7600k I got was a dud. It would only do 4.9 @ 1.45v and the temps were all over the place.

Think I'll set it at 5ghz and see how low I can get the voltage and leave it be.

So I'm glade this 7700K is working out, but unless Golden Sample is a chip engineer term it means nothing. But then again I'm not real familiar with it.

Bit off topic our second 7700K easily hit 5.0Ghz @ 1.3 VCORE without any AVX offset. This is way below 1.4VCore according to SiliconLottery.com

According to Siliconlottery.com "As of 2/23/17, the top 13% of tested 7600Ks were able to hit 5.2GHz or greater."
OP yours seems like a keeper for sure.

I often compare CPU samples to review sites and their vcore during benchmarking e.g. (anandtech 7600k Review)

I would consider an i5 7600K that can hit 5,1 GHz without surpassing 1,3 V in BIOS as a golden sample.

Just went through the delid process. Idle temps down by 5°c and prime 95 small fft maxed out at 61°c, 80°c before the delid.
Tests were done at 5.0ghz @ 1.3v.

Lol yes! I can get it to boot at 1.26 but it proves unstable, however at 1.28 I can run 24 full hours of AIDA64 stressing and game just fine. Pretty much got a 7700k for the price of an i5 !

On the delid I used clu on the inside and mx-4 paste on the out. A razor blade was used to remove the heat spreader.
The whole process was much easier than I anticipated. It was my first Intel delid though. Done quite a few AMD chips throughout the years.

I'm actually thinking about selling my 7600k and mobo. I'm wanting to do a Ryzen build.

This thread is so frustrating I've been holding off for years on upgrading to the latest architecture as I want a leap in performance with more cores. Ryzen isnt quite there for gaming yet so I'm waiting for 8th gen intel. I upgraded from 2500k to 3770k in 2016 and even delidded for 4.6ghz but its so frustrating seeing the performance here as my build is only equivalent to 6700k at stock.

Getting a higher clocked Kaby Lake would be somewhat faster than a stock 6700k. My 7600k @ 5GHZ beats a 7700k stock.
