I have same Card as yours, same problems, but MSI bios was the best in all terms, did you try it?
Thanks for the heads up , I thought I'd give it a go with these sapphire Reference 480s and it didn't go well with sapphire bios but the MSI one works fine ,i got display ports back ,not got a bench to run right yet but only just got both cards reading right.
Thought I'd mention I'm on win 10 creators and to get the hardware Id flashed right i had to use an admin power shell as cmd isn't elevated even though it looks it??? , Anyway poweshells not bad.
I'll report on bench success.:)

Glad that it worked. :toast:

Just a heads up, I flashed the second MSI bios (1380/2000) and bricked my card, It's recovered. I checked BIOS and it seams to be a modded one, as soon as I opened in Polaris Editor it gave me a CRC error. So it's better to stay away form that BIOS.

I'm on Win10 Insider Preview build 16176.1000.

Hi guys, I successfully flashed the bios on my Sapphire RX 480 NITRO+, now I can reach 1411 Mhz, but when I stress the GPU, drivers goes in crash. I added 25 mV to the voltage, but that still crash. So, I tried with 50mV, but It crashed more faster than before.
I noticed my card only consumpt 130 W under heavy load too (maybe because I have a card with ASIC 85.5%), anyone can help me ?

I know right? I read that post earlier and was thinking that's the most senseless thing ever. After days and days troubleshooting ,and driver finagling ,& screwing around with bios editing. And it's easier than sliding two bars to the right on MSI afterburner!!??:shadedshu::roll::nutkick:

Oh and don't forget the whole possibly bricking your card part too :slap:. It's like inventing a Rube Goldberg machine to run your video card it literally couldn't be harder.

not that im against perf increasing, but dont claim its for those who cant be bothered with Overclocking that traditional way because this is "easier"

I think this is the perfect marketing gimmick to use in the future by any GPU company. Don't invest heavily in R&D. Just make minor adjustments, release rebrands that are BIOS compatible and people will flock to such products like vultures banging on a dead horse.

Stable MSI RX480 GX to 580 GX with slight voltage (+10 and +30 mV on the last 2 stages) increase. ASICS 81.6 but I'm pretty sure ASICS is bullshit. Tested with long sessions of PUBG and OW. I'll push further if someune ups a Gaming X + BIOS.

Argh! I successfully flashed my Sapphire RX480 NITRO+ OC card to rx580. But then I changed the fan profile in (the outdated) Sapphire TRIXX tool, just a little bit higher. Then started FurMark 1080p preset benchmark and I just see how the fan speed is showing 100%... 120%... 130%.... 140%... it was rly loud and BOOM my computer shut down and either won't recognize the GPU or just says device error. Any ideas or did someone had the same encounter? The fans also don't spin while booting.
My Crosshair V Formula-Z mobo beeps 3 times and won't post with my flashed rx480

AMD FX 8-350
ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z

I just flashed my Red Devil and now the 3D Mark workload is just crashing in the loadingscreen of a benchmark. Any idea why?

Before what exactly? :) Before the flash, yes (http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=404893). I wanted to compare.

Read a few pages in this thread. There are solutions to similar problems. Try to increase the voltage a little bit and/or decrease the clock.

Before the Fan increase?

Looking for some info of the XFX RS RX480, it has only 4 phase vrm and the GTR and Reference model has 6 phase vrms, thats true?

Yes, so be extra careful, and XFX used cheap components for the VRM section hence their 1.175 mV limit, and the 20% power limit on the XFX RS RX480 BIOS.

Reference XFX RX 480, tried flashing several 580 BIOSs. They all worked insofar as the card didn't die; but I get a card removed error any time it actually tries to do anything. It works if I drop down to 1300 Mhz. I'm not much of an overclocker, so if someone is willing to help me try to get this stable, I'd really appreciate it. I'm only looking to get to like 1350 if I can't make it to to 1400

Didn't do any benchmark before adjusting the fan profile. Damn I wanted to flash the Sapphire rx580 bios, but took the XFX one out of the archive. Should do stuff like that in the middle of the night

I ask myself if there is any chance that the fans are burned and the card isn't booting just because of that. Due to warranty lose, I'll open up the card and see if there is any visible damage.

The consequences are: eating only bread and drinking beer next month, to buy another rx480 :toast: so I can try again :p

VRM can't handle that much wattage. People should stop running furmark. It isn't good at anything, but killing GPU's

Pretty much no gains here with the MSI 580 bios ,still won't clock past 1430 core.
Given the issues probably not worth it.
Looking into it the MSI bios is tame compared to some it tdp tdc terms.

Furmark had kill gpus at stock speed??

Yes it has and its also borked overclocked cards ( cards that may be on the limits at stock speed but die when tested by furmark on cards that have faster speeds enabled by flashing)
Its not Recomended by many people these day for stress testing ( people call it furcked my cardmark )amonkst other less polite names

After seeing this "Cause furmark is furmark, and furmark's special. You can blow up almost anything with furmark unless it has some really really strict power limits." I never even considered messing with furmark again. I think one of my earliest graphic cards died because I ran furmark on it. Around the time where tiny fans were on gpus, with no huge heat sink. I thought I just had a bad GPU and I was a PC noob (still am always learning).

Yeah, running furmark on your graphics card is insane. A few online reviewers recommended against it and Powercolor themselves put out a warning to its customers not to run furmark on their RX 400 series cards because they could get fried. There are better ways to test the stability of your card.
