For me AMD claimed a 40% increase in IPC over its previous Gen. AMD not only kept it's promise, it surpassed that 40% by gaining 52%. And that's not with all optimizations.

ZEN2 will be the chip to look out for. AMD themselves stated they are modifying aspects of ZEN 1 based on there testing and such, that will lead to ZEN 2. So we will see soon enough.

At the moment, and based on various optimizations, clock for clock, Ryzen is now mostly on par with Intel's i7 CPU in PC Gaming. This coming from recent reviews of the Ryzen 5 chips.

RX480/580 is a fantastic 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz card. It can run most games at reasonable framerates on ultra settings.

1080p at 60-75 and 100Hz can easily be obtained with the RX580. Especially with the MSI Gaming Card that has some impress OC's. On High Settings. Ultra settings? Probably at 60 and 75Hz is doable.

My 280X Dual X is not a bad card at all, but doesn't do well for me in the Overclocking department. I have it clocked at 1060 MHz. Max. Anymore OC and I get Fragments in the 3 METRO games I have. But funny because I can clock it to 1100 MHz with Fallout 3 and L4D2. No issues at that speed. Weird, it's like Metro sucks more GPU power or something.

This is why I'm interested in VEGA. If the price is right. In getting one. If not the MSI RX580 Game's Edition will have 2 do. I'm all Sapphire, but I don't like there RX580's ATM.

I wait Vega as well, I would like more GTX1080Ti, but price of GTX1080Ti in Europe is completely different picture than NVIDIA talk.
They go closer to TITAN Xp. And if AMD start to sell Vega for lower price, with same performance I have no other choice.

Extremely rough TLDW (I still recommend you watch the videos yourself): IF the driver team can handle the new stuff properly and IF GloFo can deliver high clocks, then Vega is going to be great. Two big ifs there, I hope answer to both is yes .

In all seriousness: I'm still standing by my slightly corrected predictions I made some time ago: 225W Vega X @ 1200 MHz positioned between 1080 and 1080 Ti, Vega non X (cut Vega 10) around 1080 levels (maybe slightly below) and Vega Nano (full Vega 10 at low clocks) between 1070 and 1080 but at ~170W. All except Nano, should be priced very competitively. Anything higher will be approached by dual Vega later. I'm not saying a 1600+ MHz Vega X doesn't exist, but judging by the MI25 TDP it will have to be a watercooled card with way over 300W+ TDP.

Again, I decided to keep my expectations low to be surprised at launch . The hardware is there and it's more than capable, but the drivers ...

Dont let yourself get dragged down by negativity. What the guy in the video said makes sense: Vega should have higher clocks than RX 580 because it's specifically optimized for high clocks, which means 1500 and higher for the Pro card and 1600 and higher possibly for the consumer version. This also means it's absolutely possible for Vega to deal with 1080 Ti / GP102. Also he shed some light on Vegas features, in the end it comes down to if the drivers are good enough or not. But as he stated too, I believe in good drivers since AMD made some big steps there recently. All in all I'm again hopeful after watching the 2nd part of the video.

One of them recommends not getting overly exited with VEGA. It will beat the 1080ti in some games and lose in others. Kind of a back and forth. 4GB HMB2. Not sure about the 8GB.
The other claims he has original ATI contacts and said DRIVERS and GAME CODE will play a huge role in VEGA's performance. Clock speed is important, but won't do JACK if not properly codes for it.

It will be a good card priced competitively but it's not going to dethrone NVIDIA. To be honest, I don't think they intend to either. It costs too much when AMD's focus is on Ryzen and Vega-based APUs.

AMD is focusing on the market sector that is currently paying the bills, and they just need Vega to be as good as Ryzen was to Intel. Not overly surpassing performance, but not far behind and at the right price. Which means engineered to cost a specific amount.

Why? Microsoft and Sony, Supercomputing, and AI.

AMD is still in a world or hurt, and only making profit will fix that.

The profit on cards is made either in volume (not the high end segment) or in forcing customers to pay higher prices.

Amd has a strong midrange card and that is where they are making profit, they just need to make a card they can recoup their R&D investment on to use what they find I future products.

I believe VEGA will be very competitive. But the mid range is where the cash is made. If they can somehow dominate that segment in Price to performance, AMD will take in a lot of cash.

The high end market is very small, but does make your GPU noticed.

It's all rumors at the moment. Though I can see VEGA reception upon release being just like Ryzen. And that's a good thing. Ryzen made AMD take back market share.

Don't underestimate the cash made with selling high volumes of high-end GPUs (ask Nvidia and they will gladly sing a song).
