980ti or 1070

I just sold my r9 fury and i want to get an nvidia card... My options are

1 - EVGA 980ti Classified ACX 2.0
2 - MSI 1070 Armor
3 - Gigabyte 1070 G1 Gaming

The first 2 are priced the same like 335 usd and the G1 is like 375 usd...

I like more the EVGA because it's the top card 980ti and it was used very little, no OC, and it is from a friend...

So what do you think i should get? Thanks

Pretty much on a par except 1070 is more energy efficient and has 2GB extra memory. I'd go for whichever is cheapest.

One of the GTX 1070, maybe the Armor because it's cheaper. Reasons: less power consumption, more features, 2 GB more Vram.

I would get whichever is cheaper, since they perform about the same. My only caution is long term don't get the Armor version. That cooling system is not anywhere near as robust, on every level, from the heat sink and fans to cooling for RAM and VRM/s, as the Gaming coolers. It's all there, it's just....less.

99% i want to go with evga 980ti classified, because it's built like a tank, has more than 2 years warranty left and i just help my friend to upgrade his gpu to 1080ti...so I'm sure that tomorrow i will get the card from him... Thanks everybody. I hope this will be a good choice

Salut, if you ask me I would go for th 980Ti if you plan to game at 1080p for the next 2 years and maybe you can haggle on the price a bit if not go with the 1070 G1 but bare in mind that this card is noisy. If you go for a 1070 get a Palit Game Rock or SuperJetstream or a Zotac AMP

The g1 cost 40 usd more, so it's a no for me, the 1070 armor looks like a cheap card, the evga i think it's the best choice, i am not a 24h gamer, i play when i have some spare time (like 10h per week) and the card look amazing... )

Whichever is cheapest, although the jump from a Fury to whatever option you go for is pretty small. In my book this is more of a sidegrade than a real tangible upgrade.

980ti = big die, runs hot, and has some age. All of this will reduce lifespan (runs into BIOS limits of 80C + when OC'd, and NEEDS a hefty oc to get on par with 1070) If a 980ti cannot maintain its OC, it'll drop about 10% perf below 1070

1070 = probably slightly more expensive, but a well balanced card with low power draw, low temps (72 C max on decent open air cooler), and newer tech + better/longer support.

If the 980ti is considerably cheaper go that route, if not, the 1070 is a nobrainer. 6 or 8GB VRAM is a non issue at this performance level.

I know that, but I was keeping in mind that he would probably keep the card for the next two years and I can bet that even now 980Ti has some issues getting high fps in some AAA games at 1440p with Ultra details

Sorry but no single card is a '1440p' or a 1080p or 4K card. This is bullshit. It depends on the game and the quality setting + FPS you aim for.

My GTX 1080 is a supposed 1440p card, that hardly gets 60 fps stable in some games at 1080p.
