to those who read the reviews instead of playing the game; just don't the play the game or even buy it if you think that paid reviewers are right about any game that's unproven by many more end users who can't get their hands on it. Just because it's "another" Mass Effect game doesn't mean you'll just say it's "boring", you're just following where the wind blows.

The story and writing are not that great, even by Bioware standards. The reason nobody is talking about how unsatisfying they are is because they've moved on to other games. My expectations lowered considerably when Mac Walters was involved as the game director, and he delivered an underwhelming experience as many predicted.

Yeah EA just didn't want to put out for what it takes to make a game at the level of the first 3. People always loved the ME series not just for the setting or combat. They loved it for the story, the characters and how well it was written. I mean jeez, just look at how many people fell in love with Garris alone. Good writing should be a staple of any RPG.

Not saying I won't eventually play or enjoy it in some ways, or that you can totally judge a game by a few videos and reviews, but it's clear from what I've seen that the dialog and animations need lots of work, and Bioware's bandaid patching is an admission of that. So basically I feel it's best to wait until all the patching is done and get the best experience possible.

Whether they'll fix it as much as it needs to be remains to be seen.

Bioware will do what they can but they were only allowed a budget of around 40 million dollars for the game by EA and imo Bioware over-reached and tried to take on too much.

LOL, actually Addison's stone face scene was already patched. Agree on Bio taking on too much for that budget, but honestly, we all know EA was the reason most of their good writers and devs left. I pin it on them.

No, is OK. Actually I am not complaining or regret buying it. Price wise was ok-ish, I kind of knew the not-so-good reviews, but it was just I was expecting a better story and gameplay ... But I will give it another shot after more patches are added.

If the story or gameplay aren't working for you, patches won't fix it. Although I like the story and gameplay very much, I can completely understand how you feel. Why?

Because Dragon Age: Inquisition is like that for me. I cannot finish that even if it was my last unplayed game. For me it felt like WORK to play it, and that's not why I play games.

So yeah, I understand.

Agreed, EA is the Grim Reaper for Developers and unfortunately they are a successful company for doing what they do.

Sometimes, maybe in spite of EA's efforts, a good game that players and critics both agree positively on, like Titanfall 2 gets published Very polished, almost perfect gunplay and gameplay, and great performance as well. And though short, the SP campaign was very well received too.

Haha. This. That resources grinding and crappy secondary quests are a big big mojo killer.
In the end I just dumped the side stories almost completely and went for the main story only. This and only this is how I finally managed to finish the game, and was OK.
Probably I will do the same with ME, but the quest window is so annoying and difficult to manage, and the radar is crap.

I know what you're saying and I don't want to be so bitter and jaded as you see many people on PC gaming sites bashing a game no matter what just because EA is the Publisher. I will give up gaming if it ever twists my head up like that but I do understand how some became that way due to some sleazy business practices in our hobby.

I haven't checked into Titanfall 2 yet but I know you shoot straight about games so I will look into the SP part of the game. Hell you were even right about Duke Nukem Forever being fun when most reviewers and gamers were saying it was really bad. I picked it up for I think $4 on a sale and had fun with the game and the DLC.

Back to ME: Andromeda I think what happens with a lot of games being released before they are really ready is a Publisher like EA sets a release date and then starts a marketing hype campaign for the game to maximize sales at launch and if a game still needs more work then they release the game anyway while people are hyped about it and tell the developer to fix it later. I think that explains why the patch fixing some of the more ridiculous animations and issues came out so fast. There were probably people that knew of the issues and were working on fixes before it was even released.

You are totally right about publishers and their demands! That's one of the reasons I am a fan of studios that can do their own publishing. CDPR was able to say "no, TW3 isn't ready. We need 6 more months to fine tune it." It totally accounts for the issues that many had with ME:A. Had EA allowed that, this would have been an instant classic.

That's why with Titanfall 2, I said in spite of themselves it still manages to happen. If you are only playing it SP though, wait until it has a big sale. It's only 6 to 7 hours and only worth full price if you will be investing a lot of MP time into it.

I very much rather see a new KOTOR now personally over another mass effect sequel but that could get butchered too.

Reading that doesn't really enlighten me. It seems like the same "big publisher (especially EA) obfuscation and confusion while seemingly not committing to anything" speak I've seen many times.

But hey, where would we be without rumors?

You're more generous than me. I will pick it up for $10 when it's patched and polished as much as it ever will be in a few years on a sale. The Publishers and I have an understanding. They release games unfinished and in some cases outright broken and I don't pay $60 for them. I wait until they patch and polish the games and put them on sale for $10 to $15 in a few years to buy them and we are both happy with that arrangement.

That sums it up great, DA:I is a single player RPG with MMORPG grind, generic-ness and shallowness ... gotta admit it's good to hear (read) your criticism since you are too easy on mediocre games IMO, I mean you even liked Mafia 3 edit: btw totally understandable considering game world location

I admit I am sometimes...but I try to find the best and just enjoy what I'm playing. I truly enjoy games. It try to give them all as much of a chance as possible. As long as their is a decent story, I will follow along. Half of the Mafia 3 like though, was because so many buildings and locations in the game were familiar to me. It probably would not have gotten as much of a pass had it been in a city based on another RL city.

Ah, I feel like I have lost that, somehow I got spoiled rotten by all the great storytelling, addictive game mechanics and atmospheric world designs I've absorbed over the years ... but hey, one thing I'm always looking forwards to is eye candy
