NVIDIA has silently made available a new hotfix driver which improves (you read that right: doesn't fix) stuttering issues on the new Arkane immersive-sim Prey. NVIDIA's previous "Game Ready" drivers, version 382.05, have been reported as being somewhat jerky, and considering NVIDIA has released a hotfix whose notes specifically refer a "stutter issue" with Prey, all NVIDIA users who are playing this game should update their drivers to this new hotfix version, which isn't available through NVIDIA's GeForce Experience app.

You can grab the drivers right here from NVIDIA.

Wanted to play it, but I think I'll actually wait for Vega even though i have the game in my library already...

I hate to admit it, but unless Vega is absolutely stellar and awesome and steals the show, wiping the floor with NVIDIA's offerings (price-performance wise, which is what I care about,) I've gone over to the green team. At least for the foreseeable future. My RX 480 wasn't future-proof enough for me performance-wise, and I grew tired of waiting for Vega (seriously, been waiting for months.

What actually took me over the fence was the sweetest deal in the world for a GTX 1070, which is currrently on its way, but opportunities are as they are.

But with your setup, you can play Prey on max settings already, with a pretty good frame rate. Why wait? I know it's the first game I'll be firing up.

I had the stuttering but the games first patch seems to have fixed it without needing this driver. The game runs as smooth as silk now at highest settings. My strix 1070 is chewing through the game now.

What hardware configurations are affected? No issues my end. Only played first couple hours but Ryzen plus Nvidia is working.

At least try to be neutral as a news editor, this is just ridiculous, I'm sorry.

Vega will be good enough. All negative doubters are usually people who can not be trusted.

AMD this time around is taking the time to polish this gpu to make it shine, this tells me Vega will not be another Fury X, it will be far better. No low vram fiasko either, 8GB HBM2 with HBC will set it totally apart from Fury X.

That was my thought too, the original was opinion free, it is only his latter post regarding his own experiences that include opinion.

I personally have no issue with opinions but the statement about Vega better being the second coming of Jesus Christ otherwise go green is a little ermm odd.

Not saying it plays here, but it feels a bit of what I call a new fanboy technique:
Overhype the competition,
then when it inevitably fails to deliver on those unrealistic expectations,
bash it into the ground and tell people to go for "something else"

Well yeah, but he is still entitled to his opinion. As long as is does not affect the articles themselves I see no issue with it.
If they were explicitly against one brand or the other, then sure that might be problematic.

I mean, I have already expressed my opinion about that before: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...ake-x-benchmarks-surface.232709/#post-3644503

Then you will be sorely disappointed because AMD will just price the performance according to the norm set by Nvidia this round. Rx480 also isnt a remarkable perf/dollar winner.

i know the feeling raevenlord has/had with Vega really good,
Nvidia is a bit smarter in terms of releasing some card like every other month so nobody gets tired of their offered portfolio.
At AMD the ting is a lot different, first one can think of the generally too high power-consumption of their top-cards since the first HD7970 with had 180-190Watts consumption as the top-card, in end 2011.
Since than every top AMD-card was using kind like brute-force ignoring our power-bills,
7970GHz too hungry, same move as the HD4890 was. 290X same FuryX better but 8GB @512bit whould´ve been better hence its color-compression.

i´m a bit drastic here, but a end of 2013 released 290X 8GB had to have color-compression and smarter power-control.

now we stand here with a RX580 8GB nearly as fast as the FuryX but with a power-efficiency too far behind Nvidia, and above that is NOTHING ... else than buying Nvidia, that hurts.

and we wait and it hurts and we wait .....

At least try to be neutral as a news editor, this is just ridiculous, I'm sorry.

While I understand it can be a thin line dividing my position as a news editor and as a forum member, I think I can give my opinion in the comments section. And besides, if you read my comment, really read it, you'll see there isn't any kind of brand preference over the other. I waited for Vega. Vega didn't come in a time-frame I was happy with. I got an amazing deal on a GTX 1070. Still no Vega. I jumped at the opportunity. I also don't like to waste money, so unless Vega tempts me with higher performance than the GTX 1070, at a sweet price (which also makes it so I can use my monitor's FreeSync again...) I won't be swapping it for the foreseeable future until I forcibly need more performance. If anything, this speaks to me being brand agnostic, since it's only timing/cost that affected my decisions.

I am still hardware curious, if not enthusiast, and have a life, and experiences, even though I'm a news editor.

I personally have no issue with opinions but the statement about Vega better being the second coming of Jesus Christ otherwise go green is a little ermm odd.

Yeah, it doesn't play here, because that is in no way what I said.

Yes, hence my original response was, as you can read up there somewhere:
"I personally have no issue with opinions but the statement about Vega better being the second coming of Jesus Christ otherwise go green is a little ermm odd."

I never claimed it was advice but you cannot say it was a personal option for himself otherwise he would not have shared it.
It was a personal opinion for us the readers, but a personal opinion non the less.
Like I said I have no problem with that, but like allowing him to state his, I can state I find his rather odd for the arguments already given, that is a really high demand he is putting on Vega with the hint to go green if it does not live up to it.

Check the bolded bit.

Does not chance anything I'm afraid.
I dont see this need to "defend" anything either, I'm not attacking him, I just think its a massively overblown requirement/demand he is putting out there regarding Vega.

There is to me, and it might just be me, a large difference between saying:

"I believe Vega should do better then Nvidia (in price-performance) otherwise I fear for their sales / I'm not personally interested"

and saying:
"Unless its absolutely stellar and awesome and steals the show, whiping the floor with Nvidia's offerings.... I've gone over to the green team"

I could not put more superlatives in there if I tried....

Guess I just don't see what you see.

I also kind of agree with him though.

A late product should be something special. I mean, commercially speaking it has to be. Is this really even up for debate?

I haven't purchased an AMD product since Hawaii. They've just been too late to the punch for me, frankly, and I know I'm not the only one feeling this.
