Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB GDDR4 pixelated

It comes with a zalman stock? That's just begging to be overclocked

Odd, I purchased that vf900 for my x800 and it came with several ramsinks. Seeing as how this is supposed to be an upper middle range card of today, I wonder why they didn't put the Zalman ramsinks if they used the vf900...

They actually do make a difference. I managed to get my ram up an extra 32mhz (64mhz ddr) after applying the ramsinks by themselves (it actually surprised me how much they helped).

i have to say these new mid range cards offer a pretty mediocre performance increase for new cash, normally each new series puts pc graphics cards back above consoles but from these mid range offerings from both Nvidia and now Amd i cant see tat happening until the round 2 revised cards come out.

Devguy: Because they have to mount them more reliably, and pay someone to do it/test them - thermal tape has a habit of falling off over time, and people DO send in warranty claims for a $0.20 heatsink falling off.

JocksteelUK: Whats wrong with them? as fast as the mid-high of previous gens (8600GT is slightly slower than the x1950GT, but with DX10 and better media capability) - why is it slower?
Compare teh 2600XT to the x1600/x1650XT and it is a lot faster, the 8800GTX and its massive speed boost was a one off, the mid range wont keep up with that.

so you agree that there are no legitimate performance increases made on these mid range cards, cheers for that
