I get 80-90% scaling in the games I play that actually scale. I don't play TW3 unluckily. I will look and see if it is on sale though I have been wanting to try it out lol.

For the most part the do really well when it is working. Fallout 4 however would he an example of a game that it doesn't work well in. Inside of cities I have next to no scaling, but outside it wasn't that bad.

I have to say reading this thread is like a guide for how to upgrade while spending the most money and swapping the most gpus.
You made some bad decisions along the way.
And now have a much better pc no doubt but the trials and tribulations you had didn't happen to me , and should not have happened to you imho, a seasoned pc'er.
You can't run a psu at its limits and expect anything but pain , please be realistic when partitioning blame for your pain.
It wasn't all the cards fault ,poor choices were made too.
@ talencor is that as high as they will clock , i expected a better cpu to push two past 8000 , i can get 7236 myself @1400

The psu shouldn't have been anything close to max. As has been said all over this page those are "150w" cards. That puts me around 500w max. The fact that they consumed coming up on double that and had issues on a 1000w unit masked PSU issues in my mind. I still only saw 600-650w at the wall which is well below what a 750w continuous unit should be able to deliver. Only thing I can assume is there are peaks that just went too far.

I still liked the cards overall and there was not a cheaper way to run 4k especially at the time. Just wish they wouldn't have needed a motherboard and giant psu to function correctly.

Which is why I'm going for that Seasonic 1000w Titanium...whenever it comes back in stock. I'm going Vega regardless so(not facts just my op) judging AMD previous monsters that I have(290s) running well on the 1200w PSU. I will take a wild guess that Vega wont be using as much(power) as the Hawaii's were and that dropping down to 1000w from 1200w wont hinder anything. I know 850w should be fine but if I'm only going to spend a mere $40-50 more for 200w...I might as well do it(at least for a peace of mind).

I think it's going to be faster than what AMD is letting on. I'm glad though because if it supposedly faster than the Frontier Edition which we all know have what...a 1600mhz clock speed. One can only assume that RX Vega may actually hit 1800 or be highly optimized. Again...speculation.

The issue with clockspeed assumptions is it has already been announced they went to a longer pipeline, so even if the clockspeed is pumped it might not be faster than a 1080. I really hope that isn't the case, but I have learned to expect nothing from them and yet still get disappointed pretty often.

Either way it will be a massive upgrade for me, my current setup is already obsolete. Going to Vega will trump whatever I can do currently with my system.

Judging AMD now on it's current approach to all things PC, I can safely assume that Vega will be at or nudging at the heels of the 1080TI. Win win for all.

I really haven't had that many issues from either side, but I openly acknowledge that some games just don't work. My mistake was expecting them to work too well this time. I need two cards capable of 4k so there isn't a let down when only one works.

To be fair, mgpu when done right it can be pretty good given one accepts its limitations and doesn't set it up for a negative result.

Alas this is true expecting a premium motherboard advertised with xfire support to actually function in xfire can be a bit trying at times.

That's about how much my machine will draw off the wall when the max overclock on my 3820 and 390 are being had under load. Hungry hardware is hungry.

I had that experience with my 6870s as well. It either scaled that well or it didn't scale at all.

The Gigabyte board I started with was not stable anything attached to the heatpipe would overheat, but only when xfire was enabled. I don't know if it was too much power draw for the board or something else weird.
