Cooler Master, a leader in design and manufacturing computer components and peripherals, today announced the launch of a new model in the COSMOS line. To celebrate Cooler Master's quarter-century birthday, the brand introduces the COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition. A tribute to Cooler Master's original and iconic COSMOS case.

Ever since the launch of the original COSMOS II, fans all over the World have been asking, or even making their own, windowed side panel for the COSMOS II. Well, Cooler Master heard you and we wanted to add a little flourish: the COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition comes with two curved tempered glass side panels out of the box.

Innovation is Cooler Master's legacy, brought to life once more with these massive tempered glass panels, the first of their kind. These beautifully crafted panels blend seamlessly with the sophisticated contours of the case and give a smooth look inside the case to show off your build. In true COSMOS fashion, they unlock and swing open like luxury car doors.

For current COSMOS II owners, the good news is that these panels will be also available as a separate retail product, starting from the third quarter of 2017.

A Legacy of Aluminum
Almost 20 years ago, at a time when the PC case industry was a sea of beige, Cooler Master proved that cases need not be boring and started a trend that continues till this day. Back in 1999, Cooler Master was the first case manufacturer to launch a full aluminum chassis on the market: ATC-100. This legacy is integrated in the design of the COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition.

This special edition features an updated design with two distinctive brushed aluminum handles and a soft brushed aluminum sheen on the front and top panels. The top slide panel covers the Advanced Control Panel and hidden behind the front slide panel lies a stack of hot-swappable drive bays.

Moreover, the case has been updated with an aluminum motherboard tray and partition plate for an even more premium feel.

Blue LED ambient lighting
When thinking about the cosmos, the color blue might spring to mind. The COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition with pre-installed 200mm blue LED in the front and the magnetic blue LED strip allows you to show the beauty of your components with a discrete blue glow, displayed through the tinted tempered glass side panels. The lighting will give your whole system a softer, cooler outlook.

Performance and Elegance all in one case
The whole design follows the COSMOS tradition of providing the best performance, which is why the front and top areas come with high airflow mesh. The spacious interior gives you plenty of installation options and serious gamers need not worry: all available graphic cards on the market are supported, in multiple setups. Last but not least, the stylish Advanced Control Panel gives you full control of the fan speed to balance your performance and turn on/off the LED lighting of the fan based on your preference

The COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition is expected to be available to purchase at local resellers in Europe at the end of June .2017, for a suggested retail price of 349€.

Just what exactly are the handles for? This does not appear to be a portable lan-party type of box, or am I just missing something here?

Very nice, but needs to be updated and drive bays removed, or at least only leave one Optical bay.
There's so much lost potential for radiators or extra fans, i'd also prefer the doors be removable, not just hinged.

You're not wrong. I had the original Cosmos. The handles looked nice, but after lugging it up three flights of stairs at Uni, realised the handles were no easier to carry it with. This is even bigger, thus heavier, especially with glass side panels. Won't want to be lifting it by the handles. More like an engine dolly, or maybe a personal portable powered crane.

Not worth the money, too much wasted space with that case. I have built in Cosmos II before and its just too big and today even smaller mid towers have better space utilisation.

I might just be too used to it in black, but this seems a bit afterthought-ish.

You dont need to be running to LAN parties to appreciate the handles btw, thing weighs a ton! If you want to change some parts or just move it to another room you will be glad you have those to grab. And I like the look too.

Not my style at all, but I did help a friend build a dual CPU system in the original. He seemed to like it. The case is so large that even an EATX motherboard feels small.

Simply here to point the word "even" is a bit oddly chosen.
The smaller the case the more important space utilization is as there is less of it.

"New and improved!, same outdated layout, same ugly looks, but we have managed to raise the price significantly by adding tempered glass, and we didn't even have to add RGB! (Stay tuned for our next "improvement" to the Cosmos family, the Cosmos II TG RGB Gamer Edition, only $499.99).

I've had my cosmos II case a few years now. Not for eveyone but i kinda like it. On the plus side if your house gets robbed it will take a lot of hard work trying to get the case out of my house it ways a ton. And also i plan to use it as my coffin when i die:)

Water cooling support in Cosmos II is abysmal by today's standards also cable management options are appalling. Only place where you can put radiators in that case is either on top(240/280) or rear panel(120/140). And even then you cannot use push-pull config with thick radiators as the mount is centered and there are clearance issues with motherboard. Just look at CoolerMaster's own MasterCase 5 Maker which is priced less than half of that Cosmos II and you will notice it is better value proposition than this monstrosity. Its a real shame CM just reintroduced this 2012 case in 2017 without any significant upgrades and with higher asking price. Even in 2012 it was a useless case and today it's money down the drain at best.

I have to agree, if they made a mid tower version that looks the same, I would be all over it, as long as the internals were removable, as those drive cages are ugly and unnecessary.
