A big hello to techs, this is First post on this website.!!
Ok, so problem is recently upgraded my GPU to MSI GTX 750Ti 2GB
and am experiencing sudden framedrops in almost all of the games.
PC Config-

AMD FX 8120 at stock
MSI 970A G46 mobo
Hyperx fury 8GB 1866
CM Hyper 212X Air cooler
GPU mentioned above.
XPro 550W PSU.

I've installed the latest drivers from Nvidia
Also just to be sure i've reinstalled Windows 10 Pro too but in vain.
Any solution will be greatly appreciated.
Example-
Playing GTA V-It works fine and runs at 55-60FPS but at certain portions of game there it drops to about 25-30.
Ryse Son of Rome also had the same problem,Resident evil revelations too.
SO hoping you might help me fix this problem.
Thanks alot

What resolution are you playing at?

It's worth taking a look at your VRAM usage. GTA V is quite the VRAM hog at higher resolutions.

I play at 1680*1050 and medium settings.

Also not just GTA V but am experiencing it in almost all of the games

Am using MSI Afterburner while gaming, and the temps are well within 74-75Degrees.
But yeahh my CPU usage goes to 100%(all cores).
Lowering the resolution a bit and the cpu usage reduces to 55-60%

I think the problems are at the CPU(IPC) and the GPU....

That seems one of your biggest problems as I already suspected.. Your CPU (IPC)...
What is the average load on your GPU during gaming?

You have a weak cpu weak gpu and games taxing them sounds about right.

GPU load at max goes around 65

weak cpu/gpu. utilization doesn't mean shit on Maxwell as thats the power consumption in TDP not the use

replace gpu first and overclock cpu

I'd say OC the shit out of that CPU but I don't know how capable that board is.....
Good cooling is very important.

not gonna matter that entire system is suspect ( wth is a xpro psu )
he lives in india so its probably throttling a bit as well

all that being said a 750ti isn't gonna run gta v on anything other then medium with AA off had one I know what gta v will do given that class of hardware ... not much

There isn't really something to "fix" unfortunately.
Save up for something better if you plan on more gaming.

I've got a Nvidia GTX 780 from a friend(was lying around at his place).
As for now all i can get is the 780.
But for that definitely i'll hav to upgrade my PSU to something better.
Also i also want to switch to Intel now.
But being on a tight budget got to postpone it.!!

if he keeps things on medium with no AA it will run at 60fps

but the drops are gonna be unavoidable even on my machine some areas it will tank from 100fps to 70fps
first thing to double check is temps with that cooling and that card if your ambient temps at >30C you need to run the fans at 100%

I've used that tool and it works no bullshit. In his case it will benefit.
nope pc speederupers are evil no exceptions
he's vram limited anyway no ammount of fiddling with services or process priority is going to fix that

2GB and a low end card, not even a OC on the GPU will fix it. Needs to lower resolution and detail settings as that's a crippled card as is.

Temps could be high, needs to clean case and all fans, check room temperature. Possibly put good thermal compound on cpu.

Might be good to go with a reputable psu too.

Time to Bump the cpu to 4.0-4.2GHz, if it will run in that board-the vrms on that unit will need active cooling

Low VRAM is not of concern for me coz i can compromise lowering the Settings..
Anyways thanks alott guys will definitely buy a new PSU and swap up my 750Ti with 780!!

Now you're thinking, bump that cpu up to 4.0-4.2GHz and add active cooling ovrr the vrms of that board so it will handle the thermals.

Find a 6GB model of the 780

Well my FX 8120 already has a max turbo of 4GHz but am pretty not sure that my mobo will handle it or not.:banghead:

Well my FX 8120 already has a max turbo of 4GHz but am pretty not sure that my mobo will handle it or not.:banghead:

Turbo only affects 1 core, im talking about true overclocking. My stock is 4.0, 4.2 is turbo, but I currently run 5.0 across all 8 cores.
