How to play GTA V with mega cars pack mod with the same FPS and video settings,as without the mod?

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Y-700-15ISK laptop with these specs:

i7-6700 HQ CPU,

16 GB of DDR4 RAM and

an overclocked Nvidia GTX 960 M GPU with 4 GB of GDDR5.

When I play the game with the optimal video game settings ,set in Nvidia Experience,which are actually the max

video settings at 1080p resolution (Nvidia have set this settings exactly for my video card!) ,I get around 47-60

FPS without any stuttering issues or huge FPS drops.

But when I install any huge mega cars pack mod,such as this one :

I get stuttering and huge FPS drops issues with the same video settings,and on an exact places on the map!

If I lower down the video settings to the lowest except for the texture quality,which I always set it to very

high,I get even more than 60 FPS!

But the overall video quality and effects are obivously not the same,because every other video setting is set

to the lowest!

So I would please to help me ,so I could play the game with the same FPS,without stuttering and with the

mega cars pack mod installed ,but with higher video settings!

Please help me!

It mostly works like this, you can get lower fps when you start using mods in GTA V.

Only option is trying other mods or play without mods.

@Jborg always uses these mods as well, perhaps he can chime in.


I only use Blade's trainer and menyoo mod.
My fps are lower due to lots of explosions when I drive around with adding mass to my car...

You should ask on the website where you got this mod from, they probably have some way where you can leave a reaction/question.

My guess is the polygon count on those cars is ridiculously high and if they don't offer a version with lower polygon count, the only solution is a stronger GPU.

Its way to many cars in one package... Ford is right I would say.

I mean I have about 45 added cars between about 10 separate packages working without issue in my GTA V game (You have 620 cars in 1 package). Granted I am not on a laptop.

Did you change your Gameconfig.xml? https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars

Do you have these cars spawning naturally in traffic?

If the issue is not there without this car pack, then I would avoid using this car pack and try to add specific cars that you want in smaller Add-on packages.

Mods are typically not optimized, lower your resolution or drop details down. Or find an external gpu chassis that will work with your laptop, and drop a desktop gpu in it.

PS your GPU is a low end/mainstream part.
