I haven't played (or, "been able to play", rather) a FC game since FC3. This really looks promising. I love westerns The "Call of Juarez" series (except 3) was my most favourite.


I loved Far Cry 2. It was different than the first one, with no imaginary horror creatures, but I loved it. The first one was from Crytek and resembled Crysis (the original) in terms of visuals. It made us ask for stuff (enemy animals) which they introduced in 3. Don't play the later ones without playing this (2) first. Otherwise you may not like the graphics and get bored later.

I get it. I know it's Montana. I understand that many people and ranchers don't trust or want the Feds. But they all have offices there, regardless. So, not a single element from the U.S. Federal Government is sent to deal with them on any number of charges, including stockpiling illegal weapons?

Every other Far Cry has had a semi-plausible reason for the catastrophe that happened...all have been in lawless or war-torn remote countries or islands. This? Come on, Man!

Just a cult themed game, and from what i been hearing it's just called Montana and not supposed to be a rip of the actual area.

If you check the OP post, the video you will see some one getting shot and some one being bashed against the bell and flouting body's, each scene seem to point how fcked up this place is.

Hopefully the sp experience is not nerfed for the sake of coop.

Only be getting it on sale, it don't seem to be as interesting as the others.

You don`t know the time frame or if it is set in an alternative timeline. The main protagonist might also be a criminal so 911 would be out of the question.

It's set in modern times. The protagonist could be a criminal but I think the point being made is that you can't take over a whole town without word getting out to law enforcement that this has happened. Even if they cut off all lines of communication such as landlines, cell phones, internet etc some people would simply slip through the fingers of the cultists and get away. Something like this can't happen in a vacuum without the outside world finding out.

its a video game... story campaing or single player at least its better than the garbage yoy get with Battlefield or COD for example, i like Far Cry games cuz they have mini missions, progres and there are even some risks when playing, like snakes and other animals that might hurt you, some activities that you are able to do it, i havent played FC3 myself cuz sometimes im too lazy ass to play PC and rather to spend time outside taking night pics of stars and crap or simple surfing at local beaches, but when the winter comes little peche might have to stay at home, so this kind of adventure Far cry games offer likes me that much, compared the crappy campaing other games offer,
dont take it personal, its just a point of view!

Get Far Cry 3 and skip the rest. Far Cry 2 and 4 and probably Primal (skipped it) are really bad by comparison. Far Cry 1 might be the best actually but its aged a lot.

already own 1, 2 + DLC and 3 +all DLC, FC2 its almost installing, saw some gameplays and im so excited to start it over tonight! thanks for the advise indeed, already have the games and its a waste not to give at least the try!

FC primal suck since the moment i saw a Mamuts ....and some other weird creatures...

It was mentioned some time ago there would be no AC or FC this year. Personally I like the idea of taking a longer dev cycle and making each installment a bit less copy/paste.

I feel this is why we'll see the largest weapon and vehicle roster yet, and hopefully a brand new game world that is not just one from 3, 4, and Primal that's reskinned. As for animals, there's no doubt going to be fewer predatory types, but Montana also has some of the best predators (Grizzlies, Cougars, Grey Wolves, Bobcats, and Coyotes) and the terrain is breath taking.

That said, it's the story and characters in this one that has me skeptical. How does one seeming drifter, incite a cult to take over a rural area? And this religion seems kinda flaky too. I'd have rather they just make it parallel the Freemen or Neo Nazis of North Idaho, but Ubi always have to make up some weird fictional thing. It's like they're always afraid of pissing someone in the real world off.

I'd rather see attention put into this title rather than a copy-paste CoD title. Hopefully it is worth the wait with this kind of time frame dedicated to the title. Give me a reason to play something Far Cry beyond FC3.

We have some amazing animals up this way...I sure do hope they include the illusive Wolverine as well! Hopefully their iteration of Hope, MT in this game takes place at the Rocky Mountain Front, so you can enjoy mountains that shoot up 1000's of feet above the great plains. Some of my favorite areas in this beautiful state I live in. Granted, where I live is beautiful as well.

Yeah they definitely could toss in the awesome Wolverine come to think of it. They're not as common in Montana as Alaska and Canada, but they're definitely noteworthy. It's amazing just how large a hunting area they can command. BTW, did you all know the "Gulo" mentioned in FC4 is really what Wolverines are called? I mean, sure Honey Badgers are pretty tough too, but I'm not sure they'd survive a fight with a Wolverine.

And I definitely want it to be placed in the foothills of the Rockies, which could be the case given the photos we've seen. Just hope that doesn't mean it will be copy, pasted, & reskinned from Kyrat.

I have to wonder what the surreal elements in this one will be. I definitely preferred Shangri La from FC4 over the voodoo stuff from FC3. What do you all think they've cooked up this time occult wise?

That is interesting and disappointing. I'd have them listed first, but I admit I'm biased. Such an amazing creature to say the least, and so capable for their size...truly something I'd love to see in-game!

I'd surely not want to cross one and piss it off, and hope they can do something with that aspect of them in FC5.

I have a few FWP friends up the the Kalispell area that have caught them on game cams recently, dominating predator bait stations before the bears, lions and wolves reach it...that or they steered clear which I wouldn't blame them.

I suppose we'll find out more as the game is developed.... I'm trying not to get myself too excited about it. But hoping they really drum up a fantastically developed world with a well-written story to appreciate and enjoyable to play through. I know they CAN do it...and with the amount of time they have, I hope they pull it off.

Yea, I'm all for the extra time, but I would rather the teaser trailer come much closer to the release. This early in development it could have big chances before the release. Hopefully with the extra development time they add VR. I think with a 2018 release it needs to have it, and not just be flatware. []-)

Yeah, imagine picking up a Honey Badger in FC4 in VR. In this case it would be seeing a Grizzly rear up 20 ' away from you, then saying HOLY SHIIIIIT! The scene from The Revenant comes to mind.

Yea, FC3 and 4 would be amazing in VR. I played them using Nvidia surround and I couldn't go back to playing it on 1 screen; and Nvidia Surround was far from perfect. I have to be honest and was worried the Vive would just make the experience blurry with the current screens, but after playing Batman Arkham VR my worries went away. It's awesome standing on a building looking down at Arkham City. The interaction with people was better than I had hoped as well.
