so im favouring the rosewill because its cheaper and i dont have to leave the house but im used to corsair so im torn , has to be 1000 watt , will be driving an evga gtx460x2 and another 280 gtx.

The Rosewill Capstone units are good units AFAIK.

At first i was like who uses a 100W PSU, checked the link, then edited the title to reflect it being a 1000W unit.

Rosewill is a rebrand company. Do your best to find the UL number on the PSU, then check that number for the OEM.

1KW is way too much, since you have CFx will be fine, personally i dont like rosewill, better take a watch on some seasonic units, enermax or also Thermaltake and Antec units, pretty reliable, serviceable and also quite great warranty !

I went with the rosewill it sounds competant enough for me.
Now to try and revive an old q6600 for active service for a few months.

And then you should wonder why a 1kw unit with 2 480s?? A quality 750-850w would be plenty including overclocking the entire rig and having headroom.

Anyway, capstone from them are good. But my money goes to evga g2/g3 series 750-850w.

I see 2 460s and a 280 (lol wat?!!!)... so i wouldnt change my story....1kw is overkill...

The GPUs alone, under maximum load, are going to take over 600w. Given the old Q6600 can pull another 200w+ if overclocked, I'd say 750w isn't enough, and 850w is just on the edge of enough.

Though I'm not sure what the purpose of this rig is... SLI 460s is a pretty weak setup for modern games, and the GTX280 would just sit there wasted. Maybe this is for WCG or Folding, but again the GPUs are pretty weak by todays standards for that too.

I can't argue in part but its a psu for the future as much as today and those gpus will on occasion ie compo ,fold but its more as a test rig psu so for me has to be OT , I won't run any less than 3 480 on it but not yet , the 480s are looking for a reference third if there is one looking for a home.

Gtx 460s... was thinking rx 460s and a gtx 280 for physics... lol!

Between those though its 536W (150×2 + 236W).

For the future... power use is going the same or DOWN...but way up in performamce /watt.

Look i aint arguing but you don't know my plans and im not telling bar its for any future idea i have including upto 4 gpus off it.
I know what i need mate no problems though I appreciate your trying to save me money.
