I'd like to see more on how they depict the area of Montana they're using for this game. Looking forward to some beautiful artwork and scenery. Thankfully I have plenty of that outside of my office window right now, and even redneck free!

Haven't purchased a Far Cry game since 3, and that one was quite fun. Hoping this one turns out to be good... I want to see moar!!!

I maintain that this is so improbable, so implausible that it borders on fairy tale. Nothing like this would happen in any U.S. state for more than a day before every alphabet agency would be all over it.

It always makes it more interesting for the person who lives where a game takes place. I would love to get your take on reality versus game once it is released.

I was the same way with Mafia 3, wanting to see what all was familiar and flat out the same from New Orleans to New Bordeaux.

I can hardly be faulted for pointing out the improbability in a game that everyone seems to be taking pretty seriously.

Shangri La was awesome in 4, I loved that for real. It added a whole new concept to the world.

Get Far Cry 3 and skip the rest. Far Cry 2 and 4 and probably Primal (skipped it) are really bad by comparison. Far Cry 1 might be the best actually but its aged a lot.

This seems like it will most likely be like previous Far Cry games. Beat everything on the map, capture the "zones" beat the boss and win. Take "jungle folks" "mercenaries" and whatever other antagonists they used previously and replace them with exaggerated American, doomsday prepping right-wingers who practice a bastardized form of religion. Seems to be about 30 hours of interest.

I know this will never fly due to the SJWs in the industry, but this would make sense on the US-Mexican border. The drug cartels and human smugglers literally set up checkpoints across the border, armed with every thing from rifles to grenades and RPGs. It fits in the theme / gameplay of Far Cry fairly well. A fictional take on a worst case scenario of the on going drug wars in Mexico. If they had to make the game take place in modern day America, this is the only semi plausible setting really. But it will never happen.

Personally, I would really like to see the series take a more serious tone like in the 2nd game. Go back to Africa and set it in the 1970-80s and have the story based around decolonization. Fictional take of course, but inspired by it. An interesting bit of history that isn't really touched upon in the west or video games. It would be a change from the silly "dude-bro" theme FC3/4 / Blood Dragon. Never tried Primal so I can't comment on that.

Well aren't the doomsday type clans always the worst? I'm agreeing with the above. Probably just a different setting and story with same formula. My feeling is 4 improved on 3 enough to be worthwhile, the world, method of navigating it, and added gameplay features were pretty good. I worry with this one there won't be as much elevation change as we saw in Kyrat, and added weapons and vehicles aren't enough of a change either. They're going to have to pack something quite different into this one or it will feel quite long in the tooth.

Doesn't sound that bad to me , although I still wish they would go back to the Far Cry 2 type gameplay where realism is the main focus rather than acting like Rambo all the time.

That's the part that I didn't like and also all of the needless backtracking. It kept pulling me out of immersion thinking that Ubisoft did this deliberately just to make the game longer in lieu of additional content.

They could change that up a bit. But yes, I'd love to see a more serious tone. I thought the 3rd game was amazing and 4 was very good to. I just worry that its becoming a bit too repetitive, and something needs to be done to freshen up the game. At least, after this game, they will need to step back and re-imagine the game much like they did with 3.

Exactly right! I don't even think the Russian army could take Montana without a massive casualty fight on their part. You don't mess with american country folk. The south is just the same! A lot of people that do not live in the states does not realize how many weapons an average country family has and is willing to use to protect what is theirs.

Well, in comparison Waco is different from the Far Cry 5 premise. Waco was just the Branch Davidian Compound whereas in Far Cry 5 the cultists are basically taking over a small town and surrounding area and it's up to the protagonist to fight them. In Waco iirc there were the ATF, FBI, State Police and some military involved in the siege.

Not to be beating up on the game too much especially this early on and tbh unless it turns out to be ridiculous then I will probably play it a couple of years after release.
