So I built a new pc i7 6700 Not overclocked gtx 1070 (ASUS PRO GAMING) @ 110% GPU speed (gaming mode) mobo is asus pro gaming b150 Power supply is 750W Gold. So in game, the pc hangs. Initially, the hang that occurs is mid game and there is a constant buzzing sound, I can not move or restart the computer but only choice is to press the power button. After a few hangs, I decided to ask for tech support in blizzard. They suggested that I use a sound card. Now, using a sound card, the hanging still continues but the sound (something high pitched like wheels rotating on asphalt (eeek) )is only for a split second. what can I do? Also, what I also noticed is whenever I return to cs go after alt tabbing there is a small visual artifact at the bottom of the screen that runs for a split second.

The visual artifact above only happens during alt tabbing back to cs go. The hanging that happens in game is what the game is currently displaying.

I've been trying to help alrightman get an idea of what's going on with his system, but haven't had much luck.

I've had him run Windows Memory Diagnostic and Kombustor just to try to rule out the remote possibility of hardware problems, and neither have produced any evidence of failure.

From what I gather, the crash only happens rarely, and results in a total system lockup with frozen screen and audio system. Both of his games that produce this issue are running on separate drives. I am not sure if the brief alt+tab artifacting is related, or if it is just a normal result of the video driver switching to fullscreen mode. Updated video and audio drivers.

This one is really over my head, and I'm hoping some of you guys with deeper troubleshooting skills might be able to shed some more light on his situation.

Asus mobo overvolting? (known to happen), gpu power 110% too much? (try 100%). make sure swap file is large enough and on fastest drive(ssd? OS drive?). another one I recently found was enable hpet in bios and windows(force via bcdedit)- this one smoothes things quite a bit and eliminates stuttering(freezing?).
Disable vsync in control panel and in game!/ try smooth/fast vsync instead.

How do I prevent mobo from overvolting? My freezing is literally freezing. It stays at the last frame in game prior to freeze. Usually something in contact. (e.g. getting headshotted in csgo or genji blade on someone)

So within the week I received these 2 BSODs, this is not coming from gaming but simply browsing. I wonder if this could've caused my in game freezing?

Disable automatic restarts.

Use phone with bar code scanner to find out what those bsods are
