R9 290 Freezes and goes hot

Friends my r9 290 gives display but when I install drivers its freezes my pc and start to heat up and after 8 minutes its fan goes intense
On windows restart drivers are installed due to which display again gone and pc freezes
Is it issue in card means hardware failure.I tried different pc and drivers but didn't worked
I am very worried
what should I do to make it work properly

Note:I dont know exact version of bios but can check it if needed

I HAVE gigabyte R9 290.It freezes during games and load and began to hot.afer 8 minutes during freeze its fan goes intense and after force restart it bios gone(is removed) its does work with divers installed
and it does not show display on windows 10
I have to reinstall bios from bootable USB to make it work at least twice a day.

what should I do to fix this issue and please tell me what is its cause.
is my r9 290 is burned?

BIOS missing? Did you modify motherboard's BIOS or flash GPU's BIOS? If yes, than you likely mess something up.

Now, 57°C at idle and 90°C under load are slightly too hot for my taste. During the idle, R9 290 shouldn't pass 50°C in hot environment (around 30°C room temperature). Naturally, GPU will increase its fan speed under load, but it shouldn't crash or freeze - at least not so powerful GPU as the R9 290.

If your GPU is burned, than most likely it wouldn't even boot or at the best would cause some problems during GPU intensive tasks.

Which CPU do you have? Brand and mode (Intel Core i5 4670, AMD A10 7800...)? If you have Intel or AMD with integrated GPU - enable it in BIOS (only if it's disabled), remove your R9 290 GPU and try running some graphically less intensive game on lowest settings. Watch for the CPU temperatures the whole time. If everything is more or less OK without crashes, than the problem is most likely GPU.
Keep in mind that you'll need at the very least 550 W PSU from reputable manufacturer to run R9 290 and you'll need to plug both 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors plugged into the GPU.

After that, insert R9 290, plug both power connectors in it and try again.

A few questions
What cooler is on it ?.
Is it overclocked at all ?

If it's the default AMD cooler check the left side of the fan you should be able to see the heat sink and that area could very well be blocked with dust.

If it's a 3rd party cooler check under the fans for dust.

All so check if fans are running correctly or at all.

Remember to use a touch\flashlight while doing it.

90c under load is still within line for a reference 290. Are you sure it doesn't go above 90c ? I would also take into account that the PSU might be failing.

It's close the typical GPU temp and some distance from the VRM max temps, how ever there is much more on the boards than just those that could get upset.

My R9 290 is 3 years old and starting to die. I can't game long periods of time on the OC/turbo bios and have resorted to stock.

Mine isn't heat related and running the fan at 100% does nothing but offend my ears.

I think its current, ie the higher stock voltages of the OC bios = too much for the state of the card. So it could be capacitors, memory, whatever.

All I know is that the card appears to have been designed for 3 years normal use and I've given it 3 years of abuse. So this will be my next upgrade...if I can managed to not buy other things instead...

My old R9 290 (XFX Black Edition, reference) didn't do nothing else than give black screens almost always when I played something. I tried several different vBIOSes and with HIS's vBIOS it worked better. IIRC when underclocked the memory to 1000MHz it ran rock solid.

Of course it had Elpida VRAM, the crappiest possible.

High temp on any caps will shorten the life of them greatly.

But that's only a good thing, because I also suspect the PSU almost immediately when someone is having problems with (especially a power hungry) video card

Well, when I think about it, I bought it about when the GPU mining thing was at its biggest. But luckily I don't need to bother with mine anymore.

Unfortunately, yes. I undervolted mine since those Hawaii chips have quite a nice headroom for undervolting.

And it's not that far from the truth. Holy crap that noise when gaming with the reference cooler, even with liquid metal between GPU and heatsink and GPU undervolted.
