in warmish English weather i have been leaving realtemp running.. it records the max temps reach during the time its running.. yesterday i saw a max of 95 C on one core at 5 ghz.. today at 4.8 ghz the max tempt i see is 85 on the hottest core 81 on the coolest core..

that extra 200 mhz adds about 10 C to my load temps.. this will also be when the room heater graphics cards are running.. these add about 10 C to my cpu temps..

a re-lid would bring all my temps down but i cant be arsed to do it..

for full load 24/7 running i would slow the whole lot down.. my system dosnt have to work hard for long.. mostly its browsing and doing bugger all.. :)

100c it starts to throttle. I wouldnt want to hit that point. But id run an intel cpu at 90c 100% load without batting an eye.

So if I may ask, how many months/years would you consider yourself running this CPU at this temp? You talking no degradation over this period?

Thanks.

Hey guys, this is my 7700k @ stock after repasting with only the XMP profile applied to my ram. It was pushing into the mid 90Cs when I used the pre-applied paste on my cooler. I have repasted my CPU with Noctua NT-H1 and managed to reduce temps by about 3-5C but my 240mm rad still seems to struggle to cool it. Any ideas? I should add that it's Winter here as well (17C-19C ambient in this room) so I don't think it will cope too well when Summer time comes around.

if the problem is heat transfer from the 7700k chip to its heat spreader which i think is the case the only option to improve thinks would be a re-lidding..

having said that 1.281 seems too much voltage for the speed your cpu is running at.. it should go way lower.. i recon it should be okay at at around 1.200 or a bit less if you stick below 4.6 cpu speed..

i only really see heat problems when i go 4.8 or higher i would not be seeing them at 4.6..

Yeh I thought the voltage seemed a bit high but wasn't sure at the time. Lowering the voltage to 1.2V helped and reduced peak temps to low-mid 80s. I couldn't go any lower without running into stability problems. Thanks for your suggestions :)

Today I switched out my new DeepCool GamerStorm Captain 240EX AIO to my old Corsair H110 AIO and noticed a massive difference. Left on full auto (so higher voltage than necessary as my previous post shows) it didn't go past 70C. I'll be returning my DC Captain 240EX tomorrow haha.

My temps are doing much better since I got this new Phanteks case. I errored out in OCCT at 5ghz without much attempt to tune anything but the multiplier, but on the bright side it's floating at only 90C (25C ambient).

I upgraded my cpu cooler to a 280mm AIO and it looks like 5Gs might finally be stable for me :) all I did was tweak a couple cpu power settings in bios and try 5ghz again, and it seems stable at a safe temperature and OCCT doesn't error out :rockout:
