Xbox One X Hardware Specs Give Gaming Desktops a Run for their Money

Thing is, it will give upper mid-end PC's a run for their money....for about 6-8 months. As those PC users upgrade, console gets left behind.

As to the 4K 60fps claim, I call Bullshit. Cherry picked titles, but not across the board. A 1080Ti cannot even do that in every game. Maybe they will manage it by giving crappy visuals at that resolution.

Crappy visuals? Nah. Just med-high instead of ultra BS. Looks almost as good when you actually play the game, especially on a beamer or tv from a distance. Cherry-picked settings is much more realistic than cherry-picked titles.

Optimizations help a lot as well. Rx580 gets close to a 1070 in DiRT 4 and xbox one x titles will be even better optimized for AMD. DiRT 4 xbox one x will be insanely good I think!

Everybody who knows me here knows I am way more about the story than visuals. However....if you are starting out a new game at medium to medium-high just so you can say you're on 4K, then you might as well spit in the face of the devs and kick them in the nuts, because they will have spent a lot of time and effort to make the game visuals at the level they were meant to be seen and you aren't seeing it.

This title is clickbait. Totaly.

I bet it won't have the game I'd want to play. Never had such issues on PC. And if it really didn't work in any way out of the box, I just hacked it myself and it worked. And if you're more of a PlayStation fan, you're again stuck with stuff like special versions that can run old ones like the fat PS3 that had PS2 guts inside. But later dropped it with PS3 only gear. It's just too fiddly. Besides, I absolutely hate playing FPS games with gamepad. It's like trying to drive a car with joystick. It's just idiotic.
haters going to hate hate hate hate hate... so shake it off, shake it off, woohoohoo!!

I don't think you know how great console optimization can be.
we are talkin about x86 and gcn here.
there have been articles trying to match pc and xb1/ps4 settings on specific games with fairly similar gpus on pc. the results are not far off. optimization is there in terms of settings but not the low-level 'magic' optimization that you mean. now, with the advent of new (half)generation of consoles, there are some technologies coming along that are not (yet) there for pc (checkerboard upscaling comes to mind) but this will probably be corrected at one point and does not change much in the large picture.

The cpu is nothing special but you are certainly selling it short by claiming netbook level.
ok, might have been slightly wrong about this one. netbooks tend to only have 4 cores. other than that, jaguar is direct competitor for atom with performance to match. i have an el cheapo tablet with 4-core atom boosting to 2.0ghz, so netbook isn't a too far off claim.

But there are always optimizations making it look like ultra-ish, even though it's only as taxing as med-high. That's cherry-picked settings and console optimizations for you!

Its a bit more powerful than the PS4 Pro but I don't think its going to sell as much as the Pro to be honest. In terms of the current Xbox One Microsoft does not have as many exclusives or as many games that are good and will sell consoles Vs the PS4 in my opinion and they need to change that. My Xbox One(bought it broken and fixed it) sits collecting dust and I play more 360 games on it(when they work) than One games.

Exclusives were lacking because of lacking power. Xbox one is less powerful than ps4 and after the ps4 pro there was no competitive xonsole from microsoft untill the xbox one x. Expect many exclusives to arrive soon and maybe less ps4 exclusives as well since the xbox one x is a good option for game devs now. Price should drop a bit after supply can keep up with demand, so that should mean more exclusives and more buyers and you will soon be able to multi-platform minecraft.

Ah, so all Sony first-party studios will switch to Xbox, got it.

I've seen elsewhere that the CPU is custom Jaguar at 2.3GHz. It's a little harder to know how that compares to desktop Jaguar, as we don't know what the custom part is, other than instead of getting a single channel of DDR3, it has shared access to 326GB/s GDDR5. The PS4 Pro has a similar CPU, so who knows just how much AMD has been tweaking things since MS and Sony went with x86.

I have this feeling that the "evolved Jaguar" cores are probably Puma/Puma+ cores clocked higher.

Dumbass debate through dumbass arguments in 3, 2, ...oh nvm, already going on I see.

Just to note - 9 GB from 12 will be enabled for games. If game uses less than that ammount, rest will be used for caching. Anyway, at least this console can be called powerful. Comparatively, don't kill me.

It is good hardware but if they gone with 384-bit wide GDDR5X memory it would have been insane with almost 50% more bandwidth.

You are aware that games allow you to turn auto-aim off, except for a few games like Destiny where Auto aim is a feature of the gun you are using. Also, I play on both and if you are unable to use a Controller id venture to say you Suck. This feels like a situation where someone hates something because they are not good at it.

Not all and probably no switching, just multiple platforms since xbox consoles are now competitive with playstations again. Now the xbox one x is a good option for nice visuals as well.

Because gamepads are shit for FPS games, then must be that "I suck". AHAHAHAHAHAAHA. It's not even auto aim thing that's the problem. You need that thing to even hit anything. It's just that gamepad feels unnatural and clumsy. That's all. But if you want to get all butthurt about it and drag it on personal level, be my guest. I don't care.

So much salt in this thread holy ****. Finally the console is powerful now all the complaints are on the controllers. Controllers may not be great for FPS games but they are great for almost everything else. Don't tell me it's fun to play a driving game with keyboard and mouse and don't tell me that there's no wheel options for consoles.

With skills a gamepad is so much better if it is sensitive enough.

How is this thing going to give gaming desktops "a run for their money"? This reminds me of the media going on about the PS2, saying that gaming PCs were now obsolete. Same with ps3/360. Obviously, neither lasted very long.

It runs a beefed up 480. That's already a lower end card, and volta/vega are on their way.

Cmon TPU, you are better than this.

They need to keep something for the xXXBONEXXx.

Mid-range to high-end pc's and all games should be even better AMD optimized then DiRT 4 pc, so that rx480+/rx580- should be nearly as good as a 1070 and console devs know how to make something look pretty without taxing the console too much. Super sampling is going to make 1080p look great and 4k high-ish in pc terms should be no problem!

Sure the optimization is great but can i use it to cook my dinner?

PC FTW :p
