Voted $80-120. Max I'd spend is $100. I think I paid that for my G15 keyboard way back when. Still using it. I don't tend to change my keyboard all that often when it works for me.

Paid €143.84 for mine, so that's around 160$.
I wanted a good mechanical gaming keyboard in azerty (BE).

Next time I'll just buy a qwerty and enjoy cheaper prices.

How big is the azerty using populace? most keyboards in Scandinavia come with a pan Scandinavian layout to hit the ca 20 million population of Norway, Sweden and Denmark combined, (the difference is placement of ÆØÅ and the swedes use stupid version of Ø (Ö) and Å (Ä)) and the prices for pan Scandinavian layout and the horrible us layout with the tiny rerun key are usually the same.

I do gaming and web development and one of my best talents is understanding usability. Honestly, keyboards these days are all miss unless you want sometime simple and mechanical.

But for the power users such as myself it's very difficult.

Look at the top of your keyboard: F1, F2, F3, F4 [space] F5, F6, F7, F8 [space] F9 F10, F11, F12

I've been using my Logitech G110 keyboard for years and was finally able to purchase a couple backups. Why do I use an old keyboard even though the keys are not mechanical?

The macro keys are positioned exactly the way they're supposed to on the left side. 2x2 to supplement the 1x4 traditional function keys. From bottom to top:

G6, G12, Back/Forward Navigation
G5, G11, Previous Tab / Next Tab
[space]
G4, G10 Close Tab, Specialized Macro
G3, G9, Restore Tab, Audio 2 Use Headset for Gaming
[space]
G2, G8 Specialized Macro, Audio 2 External Speakers
G1, G7 Dim Screen, Brighten Screen

The macro keyboards that are being released are blatantly guess layouts with macro keys and none of them are smart enough to realize computer functions are like particles: they usually come in pars (negative / positive).

Devices without physical spacing are utterly thoughtless and worthless, hence why if you're actually a power use you absolutely loathe having to use a laptop keyboard. MSI kind of put a desktop mechanical keyboard on a series of their laptops but then instead of the number pad put the track pad. ... Who is going to drop five grand on a laptop and use the track pad?

I don't need a headphone or microphone jack but competent placement of macro keys are an absolute must. And LED backlighting? Yeah, that is a must in the color I want though I don't care about Corsair's light shows, it detracts from the purpose: WTH is that key when it's dark in the room with my system? LED backlighting actually serves a purpose, just as well thought out design serves a purpose: greatly increased productivity. Add profile support so the macro keys change when a game or program is active and you have something truly useful. Power users should be designers if they comprehend that other power users have different preferences...then you have a much higher chance of creating a product that appeals to more people once they understand the added value and it doesn't have to be over a hundred dollars either but for the amount of increased productivity I'd be happy to pay the premium because time will always be worth much more than money.

Ignorance is a bliss so I don't really care about mechanical keyboards and stuff. $40 is the higher I had payed and that was a combo MS mouse and keyboard. The keyboard is fine, but not better in every aspect compared to much cheaper I have and the mouse wasn't really as comfortable as I would like, not to mention that the wheel started having problems in a few months usage. What I want to say is that for me, a high price doesn't warranty quality or convenience, but.... ignorance is a bliss.... and you also save money.

Got Novatouch and atm one temporary keycaps set comming my way and other ordered. Also would like some nice cable in the future. :D

Thing is, if you get used to mechanical, you really dont want to go back, but usually improve (if possible). Novatouch certainly is improvement over my previous 7G. Even tho not in case of keycaps. But at least its quality switches, which is what really matters. Everyone can get keycaps they want afterall..

Normally I'd spend 5 bux, max, at the thrift store... but now that I have one with mechanical switches I'd probably never buy a piece of crap keyboard again. I went fifteen years with garbage keyboards... never again.

Well considering i spent $170 on my MK Pro for crappy driver support to newer software i be thinking twice.

Would not spend it again while my MK Pro \ Tesoro is working, so $0 at this time :p.

Although i would not mind replacing my Tesoro due to space as i do not need one with a numpad and arrow keys. but it's not worth it to replace it.

Lol I spent $170 on my Ryos MK Pro also. I ended up gifting it to a friend after I got into keyboard reviewing.

Mines been fully worthy since replacing the LEDS ( Pics in the Ghetto mods thread ). :), in fact i am not mad at ROCCAT for bad LEDS a lot of company's were getting bad LEDS. Besides getting told get the fck lost we do not want to help support your MK Pro because the warranty ran out but you never had one last over 6 months :p.

More pissed about the software support, i was told when they get around to it which was just just to have you waiting for nothing as years later they still haven't got any new ones out.

So will not buy any more ROCCAT products until i hear hardware support.

I voted 50-80. I bought my keyboard for £60 (or was it on offer for £45?) and am very happy with it. It's a Rantopad MXX with Blue switches and it's very noisy. For the price I'm impressed by the quality of the keyboard (thick aluminium build)..
but yeah, I think the amount people are willing to spend depends largely on the amount of money they have to spare. I'd happily spend a lot on a very good keyboard - if I had the money. At this point I'd much rather live within my means.

Mine was fine the entire time, but yeah no support for Swarm was not cool. It was also when RGB backlighting was coming and, along with it, more reliable LED placement so I just didn't care and took the loss.

I tend to keep keyboards a very long time so I voted for the > $150 option.
Doesn't mean I'll spend that much for sure but I'm not opposed to it for something I'll be keeping for 5+ years.

Azerty users are plentiful, France and Belgium use it. The problem is I don't want to use a french azerty, nor an azerty for the french speaking part of Belgium. The keyboard I use is easily recognised by being azerty with key labelled in English. That's leaves me with a market of only 6 million.

I usually buy keyboard once every 4-5 years, I got Gigabyte K85 for free in a giveaway from Gigabyte and since I didnt like the feel of Kailh Red keys I switched to CM Masterkeys Pro L keyboard(simple white backlight no rgb) so yeah I do spend max of 130$ on keyboards which I perfectly fine for my use.
