Okay, so simply. Came across some spare parts. PSU works ive tested on another build. Powers up the build and stays on. But im not getting any display. Not from the board or a working GPU? Now I heard the pins on the CPU may have been originally bent, but it fits in the slot. No beeps or anything. Just no display. HDD/PSU im 100% work. The board/cpu/ram im not 100% on. But im trying to figure out how to narrow this down based on the problem.

Trouble shooting 101: Swap known good parts for potential bad parts, memory, cpu, etc. If you do not have known good ones, 2 options buy known good ones or borrow known good ones. The down side to that is if you borrow them and burn them out you lose a friend...If you suspect you have bent pins, use a magnifying glass over a camera lens take a few picture's n post them. If you do in fact have bent pins, either fix them or get another known good board.

Question, was this set up working then stopped? If so what where you doing right before the unit stopped working?

What are the parts? Most likely it's the pins or the board that's bad. But should bench test not in a case a pic would be helpful. But anytime you have a question you need to list the specs

Right, well I am limited on my ability to do that for multiple reasons mostly a lack of spare parts. Umm, I dont know about before I didnt ask. But I guess I will have to just see. I cant check anything on it really. I was mostly curious what could be the culprit. Like would it still show BIOS if X and X worked.. For example. Then I could narrow it down to maybe buy testing products.

I cant really get them. The CPU is a newer Sempron because the board is DDR3. Maybe I should investigate more. But my question as I said above if more of a if the ram didnt work would it do this? Or would it still show BIOS basically is there anything I can remove from the picture as causing the issue.

No case, one stick of ram. No drives. If it does not post board is dead most likely

He means take it out of the case and put it on a non conductive surface such as a bread board.

Just install CPU with its cooler and one stick of RAM. Dont bother with HDD for now.

You will need to connect the fan for the heat sink to the mobo and 1 x 4 pin cpu connector and 1 x 24 pin motherboard connector.

you will need a screw driver or similar to start the PC when it is out of the case

It helps isolate certain things

e.g
shorting with the case
access will be easier when you swap components
you can give it a sniff for burnt smell

I had a similar issue when the BIOS defaulted to a newer PCIe version than the components actually supported. No way to fix it without replacing with components supporting the expected PCIe version, unfortunately, as you can't enter the BIOS to select the right option.

When you bench test it besure to take the battery out for a few minutes and the reset the bios before testing

Is the RAM slotted correctly ? Pushed all the way down ? on the correct slot ? I've had a board that boots, but doesn't post display screen because of wrongly installed stick of RAM.

Certain cases either short or not allow a gpu to be inserted fully and squared in the case. I got in the habit of doing it on new builds. even.
