new GPU

just brought a Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 8G 11Gbps Graphic Card coming in tomorrow, I just want to make sure I all I have to do is plug and play all my bios is up to date and my latest nvidia driver installed I should be good to go right?

yep... it will boot in at low rez and act a little funny as it switches the driver, then the screen will update to native resolution; i usually restart after that and it's good to go.

Lots and lots of reasons to update the Bios of a mobo... Added CPU support, fixed GPU optimization, Memory fixes....just tons of reasons.

Current day objects don't really need a BIOS update just for a GPU change.

Its only Skt 1366, 1156, 1155, and possibly 1150 that need bios updates. You're on 1151, so no updates really required.

I didn't help but knew there was a extreme edition of this, just a little bit more boost clock then this edition. I wont think that's a big difference maybe a few more fps in the extreme in full 4k.

Just got the card installed everything is running smoothly so far installing software now hope it goes grate. So far fallout 4 in ultra 60 fps in 4k That's with the texture add on update running smoothly.

uhh overclock manually

how can a very small percentage of mhz translate to 'a few more fps'? especially at 4k, the lower the average fps is, the smaller the differences (meaning, 10% of 30fps is a small 3fps, but 10% of 300fps is a large 30fps)

i'm not worried about that now to much since it came in its been working good at full 4k at 60 fps
