DRAM frequency if reported 1000 MHz by CPU-Z means it is actually clocked at 2000 MHz. I think something is wrong in your BIOS settings. Till your friend comes and updates the BIOS, do the following.
Enter BIOS. Go to the Exit tab and load optimized defaults. Then go to the AI Tweaker/Extreme Tweaker tab (whichever you have) and look for the following setting:
After you have successfully applied the setting, press F10 to save and exit from BIOS.
Please note depending on your current BIOS settings, you may have to press F7 to go to the advanced mode. Only in the advanced mode you will find the AI Tweaker tab as I mentioned. All the best.
Also, I believe you could have updated the BIOS yourself too. Nevertheless, first ensure correct BIOS settings as I mentioned.
