To this day I've haven't had a problem running the original thanks to them. Long term patching and at some point they offered downloadable install packages for Starcraft, Diablo II, and others; so no CD install/patching hassles.

I hope they remaster Diablo 2 as well...

That would be nice, and have it include a remastered Diablo while we're at it

When it comes to remastering, I'd love to have Ultima 6 and 7 remastered. I really loved 6 more than 7 due to not having to eat food.

Seriously EA, remake the damn Need for Speed series from TNFS up to Carbon (and every single game in between) and remaster them in Frostbite. I'd pay for that in a heartbeat.

Also, I'm interested. Original StarCraft has a special charm with the 2D graphics. Similar to how Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun felt with Voxel graphics. No polygonal 3D can ever replace that.

I have tried 3 different Starcraft mods that "changed" resolution from 640x480 to full HD. I can not remmeber the sources and links though... Two of them worked horribly, one did not launch at all. It's very sad that no one still managed to make a proper resolution mod

only 60$ per race + another 100$ for collectors, then of course there's the 60$ per race for broodwars, and the unit expansion packs for the dark templar, ultralisk, siege tanks, etc. Only 20$ per. Oh and the kerrigan Chronicles is going to be a separate release for another 120$ Plus another 50$ for LAN, and another 100$ early release and 50$ a month for battlenet.

lets see the first month will then only run you...840$ US... plus 50$ every month following that.

Isn't everyone glad Activision bought Blizzard? Because no one likes paying 60$ one time for a complete game...

I remember reading about this and thinking it was just an internet rumor. It would be interesting to see how everyone reacts to this. I tried going back to 1 after playing 2 and it was very difficult to play with the loss of mechanics and features that were added to 2. It just felt like the game play was much slower with only being able to hotkey 9 sets of units and only being able to select 12 at a time. Not sure if they are going to add the little things or just revamp the graphics, but with everything that was added to 2, it makes it very hard for me personally to go back to 1 after all of these years.

The original involved skill and planning. The 2nd = how fast can you hotkey/click per second...

SupCom was fun but it was no Starcraft. The lack of those new mechanics while improving the graphics is exactly what makes this interesting.

Good music and sound effects -- I'm oddly fond of the spider mine burrow, so crisp. Looks good as well. I've enjoyed numerous replays of the original over the years, but it's never been quite the same as playing it on a classic system with a CRT. However, this remastered Starcraft gives me the same feelings that I had back in the 90's.

Late reply, but the first Starcraft didn't revolve around fast actions? And while tje drawn out release was annoying, each game was about as long as SC+BW, iirc, so they were proper games actually.

this is the right kind of remake. all the look and feel has remained the same as the original, yet all the assets are now high res, updated voices are better in quality and it all works on a contemporary technical level. plus matchmaking and ladders. it is amazing how they have managed to cram high-resolution assets into the game so that at a reasonable zoom level it does look very close to original game.

changes they have made are mostly to make things flow naturally from sc to sc2 (jim raynor's voice/portraits come to mind from the beginning of the game) fits in with the theme.

awesome. here's hoping that blizzard will do the same to warcrafts and diablos
