Anyone else sick of all the "GAMING" crap? I spend a lot of time on games, but I don't need all my stuff marketed as GAMING this and that.

What does 1.0.0.6 a bring to the table compared to 1.0.0.6?

a for alpha? Asus only used that in beta UEFI releases at least.
Asus has really sucked at getting out UEFI updates for their AM4 boards, which is really annoying. I thought I made the right move at first, but seeing the list of updates from other manufacturers, I'm quite frustrated with Asus...

My knowledge is limited as far as AGESA 1.0.0.6a. I would assume it is only a minor revision.

But is it a beta or a stable release?

of AGESA? No idea. As I said I know nearly nothing about this release and AMD hasn't exactly been forthcoming with details. I'd just go with the "if it's a stable release bios, it's probably stable code" mantra for now.

In my board's version (Taichi), the move to AGESA 1.0.0.6a also increased the BIOS version from 2.4 to 3.0. This tells me that it has some "improvements" or it would have gone to ... say ... version 2.5, or something along those lines. What are the changes? Dunno :(

I have the same board and the only noticeable improvement is I can increase my ram speed to 3066 for a 2x8 GB set rated at 3200. Still can't get my 1700x to 4.0 but that could be limited by my chip.

On my Biostar X370GTN new BIOS is total fail. This is why:
- none of my memory kits work at XMP settings anymore while on older BIOS all could work at 3200 stable ( higher frequency kits were limited to 3200 but could run at XMP timings etc )
- Ballistix 3466 memory is the only one which can boot at 3333 but isn't stable ( on Intel this kit can make 4133+ ), TridentZ 3200 C14 or any other kit can't even boot at 3200 using auto or manual settings while on older BIOS, all could make 3200 CL14 stable
- P States option was removed and there is no option to set any lower voltage than stock ( auto ), it means that my CPU will run at higher than required voltage and will generate additional heat ( I have small ITX build ), this board sets voltage = VID+ as it has no LLC so when I set 3.7GHz on 1700X then voltage is between 1.3 and 1.4V while all it needs is 1.2-1.25V.
- Bclk option is barely working, board randomly freezes above ~101MHz and the only way to make it work again is to clear CMOS - there is jumper for that ... and in small ITX case it's a pain to do that

All that for 2 months waiting.

Ouch :(

I haven't changed to the Taichi 3.00 BIOS since pretty much all BIOS options (version 2.40) are @ default values, for now, including memory speeds. The reason for this is because i'll leave the BIOS tinkering for after i've grasped a bit more of working with Linux.
