I still think TPU needs a kitten. Did you know petting a kitten reduces stress? Petting a dragon does the same thing but let's not go there. ;)

On the flip side. @DeathtoGnomes all mods and admins are welcome into the Discord server but even there we have an admin chat because not everyone needs to know what happens behind the scenes. If something happens and someone needs banned it's discussed there and trust me we've had to do that before.

And as @sneekypeet has mentioned, just because members go out of their way for certain things doesn't give them the right for special treatment. I may be the server owner for the TPU Discord for all members to use and still put in time to watch and improve when needed but that gives me no right to be an ass here because I know that hammer will hit me just like anyone else.

The air has shifted months ago in here OP... Not a fun place to hang out anymore tbh.. its sad an individual broke all the rules a while back and still is in here.

Hope the mods start swinging the ban hammer on some... To me there's so much negativity in here its to the point of being TOXIC, and ppl don't need that shit in their lives..

Be kind, show respect, and treat others with dignity ;)

Seems pretty simple, if someone is asking for help then help or move along.

So much is lost in translation when typing. Flat out blatant insulting is not ok unless you're having a yarn with a buddy. :p

Sure, I agree that it used to be that way, also that it does seem there's a little less tolerance from some more experienced members. I also agree that nobody has to accept the kind of aggressive treatment from new or old members, it should be reported asap and usually is. I try to report (if I cannot delete) or moderate where I see such occurrences. Current and experienced members shouldn't return volley and sink to the new offender's level either. That makes those very members no better than the harasser and infractions can and will still be earned for such behavior. Some of those new users also aren't always "new" members...but some are, and just join to harass. We do try to catch and handle it as soon as we see it. Don't let them get to you is really what I suggest...isn't worth it.

If it gets to the point you have to say it happens in every thread as you did above, I'd think it might be time to step away from the section where you find yourself most annoyed to that extent, it isn't worth it to let it get to you and I'm sorry if you feel that way.

If someone offends you, don't go sink to their level and offend them or use their tactics against them, be the better person and stay constructive if you do continue on the topic (staying on topic too BTW), report it and move on, ignore them (forum ignore or just scroll on past), or step away from the forums until you can collect your cool. That's really the best suggestion I can provide to members here that find themselves annoyed or offended. None of that drama is really worth your time, nor proves anything worse of you for choosing to not give it attention. In-fact that would be more respectable than dragging it on and on IMHO.

We can't keep 100% of members happy and away from 100% of the negative and annoying shit that happens around here, but that doesn't stop us from trying to do our best. We could all exercise some self control and positive/constructive posting manners which would likely reduce a noticeable amount of the drama that unfolds more frequently around here. Using some of what they used to call netiquette and simply respecting each other.

I'd like to challenge everyone on this forum to try harder towards that goal, working together, supporting others, not sinking to an aggressor's level, continuing to report offenses, understanding that the mods are on your guys' side and we're doing our best to keep the peace for the best of TPU and its community. I love this place and my goal is to help keep it a great place to visit and enjoy within my abilities as a member of the community and a moderator of a few sections. But it all starts at the member level and we all have a big choice in how that is handled, either good or bad. It is a decision, no different then choosing to decide to join this forum as a member.

:toast:
As others have said, it's not about getting angry at someone's misguided post, I just consider the source and laugh at those who try to force their opinions down everyone's throat. No, what saddens me is the way the general tone of this place has become toxic and unhelpful. No, it's not every thread, just most threads about GPUs, CPUs, RAM, AMD, Intel, nVidia, Samsung, Toshiba, Dell, HP, Microsoft, Apple, patent trolls, Game developers, mice and keyboards - need I go on? I have been to every PC hardware review site I could find for the last 6 years, one time or another, and This site and two others (PCPerspective and hardocp) are all I still visit these days. The others are so biased as to defy belief, or decided to mostly cover cell phones, games, or laptops. Some of those forums have hundreds of posts in every thread, none of them worth reading, except as a cautionary tale of what to avoid. Misinformation, reviews which are little more than paid advertisements, fake news, and brand bias have become the norm - I had hoped TPU could avoid that fate. You say that the moderators are doing their best, "We can't keep 100% of members happy and away from 100% of the negative and annoying shit that happens around here". How about maybe trying for at least 50% happy members, and delete or ban 50% of the toxic crap. We know you guys can't stop it all, but to some of the rest of us it seems like nothing is being done about most of it. If it's gotten so bad that this much still gets through after diligent policing, it might be time for tougher rules. As a bonus, after the "purge', the ones left will be a lot more polite...

I agree 100%. This is the only computer forum I can stand because most member's here love unique builds, older parts, vintage computers, unusual parts, offbrands, DIY etc.

The forum has video card Bios posted to help people, then they join the site n post up for help. Only to get kicked in the nuts, by some ego stroker that asks them why they did such a stupid thing.......

This is really popular right now and I hate it.

Its important to not take every post personally and realize what it is. Some people just want to criticize. Just move along and forget about it. Let the mods address the inappropriate comments when they choose to

People need to report what they see... as was said, the mods cant see everything. There are probably what, 500 unique posters /month maybe? It's usually the same 50 blokes on the pitch for the most part.

Probably about 100 fully active members consistently posting, the rest are casual posters and probably 50 posting to help the ones with problems/advice seekers

Biggest problem IMO is rude new posters, and pointless polarization. The second part is seen everywhere in society, so it's not a TPU issue really.

The air has shifted months ago in here

i Cant honestly say when, but i dont feel like its what it was once either. I CAN say i have found it easier and easier to go without tpu over the recent months, and its not something i like (honestly), but its a fact just the same. i find myself logged in just about as much as i used to be , however it feels like being "unwelcome" i guess (thats the only word i can put to it). i had hoped it was just me for a while , but the more i see posts from others (or a thread like this) i realize what i know to be true personally, isnt just an opinion any longer, but rather a growing general consensus. i know it sounds bleak and whiny, but im just being honest.

FWIW, I dont think there is an active member (worth his weight) i could genuinely find fault with, most of You who have posted here in this thread are IMO good people, its not a member, or a thread thats causing this issue....its deeper than that.

I will say that i appreciate those that deserve it, and respect those who show Respect....you can always tell a persons true nature by how they treat the people that they dont need to treat well.

ill leave it at that. as im not interested in arguing points, or My opinions. as this is neither, but rather an honest observation.

I will say that i appreciate those that deserve it, and respect those who show Respect....you can always tell a persons true nature by how they treat the people that they dont need to treat well.

ill leave it at that. as im not interested in arguing points, or My opinions. as this is neither, but rather an honest observation.
Love you too

I had to do some digging.....
Ok so you went to the old thread, ticked the box to post anyways, and it would not let you? I ask, because I had no issues with a test post in that thread.
I have an idea of who may have sent you that, but I cannot speak for them, so I will let them address that comment on your "Shame" thread.
