Ok so you went to the old thread, ticked the box to post anyways, and it would not let you? I ask, because I had no issues with a test post in that thread.
I have an idea of who may have sent you that, but I cannot speak for them, so I will let them address that comment on your "Shame" thread.

I suspect it worked for you because you've got mod rights. Did you post inadvertently in a closed thread and didn't realise it, maybe?

I still find these forums to be one of the best for getting help for issues. People are ~mostly~ civil and patient with those who know less than them.

The Mods do a good job with it too.

I don't really believe anything other than the perceptions of a few people have changed.

I don't think there is anything wrong with telling someone that doesn't yet have the knowledge of how to do something advanced to learn a little more before helping them directly.

It is what it is I guess, but from what I can tell it's always been that way. People are people and that will never change, and there's different types of people, and that too will never change. The best anyone can do is try to be the "bigger man" and not escalate arguments by responding in kind to problem posters. It's easier to walk away from that situation than waste effort arguing with somebody over the internet.

Mate you haven't seen the "Reported Posts" section in the mod lounge these last few weeks . I have seen a very noticable increase in alerts every single morning. Every day it's a new surprise. (We have 827 pages of reports historically)

Maybe its me but this thread seems to already have a positive effect on general attitude across the forums. And I don't mean just in this thread.

From what I have seen:
1) Brand 1 vs Brand 2: if you suggest either brand, you have a legit fan boy attack you for being a "fan boy" of the brand they don't like
2) Failed Bios Flash: if a person flashes a bios and cannot recover, you have trolls telling them it was their fault for being an idiot
3) Windows problem: sometimes you get someone who has a software problem, you will get posters attempting to derail the conversation but providing little help to the OP.




Thats what brought me on too. I had a Sapphire X800XL I bought from ebay that the prior owner misflashed an X800 GTO bios onto so that it only had half the proper pixel pipelines, IIRC 8 instead of 16. For some reason, it wasn't straight forward flashing the X800XL bios, I think I had to flash a bunch of different bios for various 800 series and brands onto it and then finally the original sapphire X800XL bios was accepted.

I see too many (in my mind) of "I need to know if I should purchase A, B, or C. Anyone have any input on these?"

This is the first thing I thought about when I read the OP. It's this attitude that's a real letdown. If helping people who make mistakes with their GPU's isn't something for you, I would suggest you just keep away from those threads. Same with the rest of you that find a bad bios flash from a novice is somehow relevant to your well being. Just stop, it doesn't help and sheds TPU in a bad light.

OMG, abso-freaking-lutely. If you have nothing constructive to provide/share, then let it go, and wander thru another thread until you do. I think too many people these days are looking for the next reddit, where they can just wander thru every submission, and crap on it wherever they can.

So does that mean you still have an issue, I may not be understanding your displeasure, I didn't send you anything or close anything but as far as the old threads are concerned once 6 months (I think) has elapsed since the last post you get the "old thread" warning, if you do not check the box to acknowledge it then it won't let you post (I am guessing that's an anti spambot necro thing). Apart from that did someone delete a post of yours somewhere else and you were sent notification of the delete? I only ask because that very point was one of the early gripes in this thread.

Well I'm going to make this as short as possible.

It seems that the general attitude in the forums lately has shifted from HUMBLE and HELPFUL to SHORT of PATIENCE and borderline RUDE to plain and simply UNHELPFUL.

I dont know exactly how or why this has or is happening but I hope we can pull our heads out our butts and get back on track with what TPU is here for! Even the Forum Rules or Guideline states that the intent of these forums is to be HELPFUL. << I would link to where W1zzard wrote it out but can't find the Dang Guidelines (first cup of coffee still).

+1 OP. I haven't posted as much as many others but have been around a long time, and I notice increasing animosity among users. I understand flame wars between team red, green and Intel, AMD, but usually these threads turn into, "no, you're stupid and wrong because x, y, z.". Gotta admit it can make things exhausting considering all of the other foolishness ongoing in Western society today. I just want to read about tech stuff and learn from smarter people than me from time to time. Let's just try to be nicer and use logic, not personal attacks to make our arguments.
