Wallpaper setup in Windows 10

Hello everyone,

laugh all you want, but I have an issue with Windows 10 and setting up wallpapers. Right click-> background doesn't help. I want the old school screen I have seen in Windows 8. I want to set up a dual monitor wallpaper. This command used to take me to the right place :

control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper , but now it doesn't. What could be the problem here ?

The wallpaper page is no longer available from Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personlization > Desktop background like in Windows 8. Why did they change this is beyond my understanding. Anyone with an idea is more than welcomed.

Windows version is : 1703 ( OS build 15063.483 )
Windows edition: Home
Activation status: Digital license linked to my MS Account

Open the background you want with "Photo" and go to the three dots and select "Set As"

and then "Set As Background"

@DeathtoGnomes well shortcut works

, but sends me to the regular background screen.

I think I might know what the problem is, but I need to test first and then we will see. I am really pissed, but not your fault of course. I was pissed with this wallpaper insanity since they introduced it.

I just used that screen last week to set a wallpaper. Open the actual control panel (which MS is intentionally hiding) by typing control panel in the search box, and its right there.

try this

1 create new shortcut
2 where it says type in location > C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,@desktop
3 name it something like win8 old skool wallpaper menu or Donald Duck was here or ... whatever.
4 profit

I did exactly that to see what it did. It worked. BUT all it did was open Settings > Personalization > Background. So I don't now how much use it would be to the OP. He's trying to get to a place that no longer exists AFAIK.

Read up to my post. It does exist. Unless something changed in a week. Dang, now I've got to check when I get home because this will OCD the hell out of me! :laugh:

I don't know if you're right or wrong. All I do know is I can't find it either.

Nothing I click on from there takes me to Personalization, or Desktop Background. I even tried manually entering "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization" and "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Desktop Background" in the address bar and it doesn't work.

I did the exact same things. Well, I need to face the fact. I have found a solution that kinda of works for me for now. I just chose "SPAN" from the options in the background menu and it spread the dual wallpaper across both monitors, so that's good enough. Anything else fancy will require 3rd party program, which I am not really fond of. Thank you to all. I don't know why they did this, but it is frustrating IMO.

Well we shall find out, since it is installing as I speak. I do have Start 10, which gives me the proper control panel. I will let you know:

Update: creators doesn't want to install. Well try this again tomorrow.

I'd say you did something wrong, but who knows if anything has changed. This what i see and intended. (removed temporarily /snicker )
