Hey guys.. I have a 280x which I have been trying to upgrade for quite a while and thanks to AMD I was stuck with no powerful card from them until now.

Now that I am all set to pre order Vega64, I was wondering if I can use my 280x with Vega64 for games that support dx12 multi gpu like ROTR, division, hit man and Deus Ex

Edit: some people are answering about Cf... I am talking about multi GPU support of DX12..

Since you're all set to pre-order Vega64, why not test it yourself when the card arrive and share the result here

Also I think it would be better to use the Vega only to avoid any potential problem

Why in the world would you want to do that??

Stick with the plenty powerful enough rx vega and dont create issues for little if any returns.

I highly doubt that. My 290+290x combo don't work so it is safe to say that combo will not work. In DX12 the card needs to actually be the same.
Correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

Buy GTX 1080. Hey, people said I need to be more pro-NVIDIA... Joke aside, I follow a rule of mine. Single GPU. Always. I've been tempted by R9 295X2 monstrosity and then decided not to go with it and instead bought same priced GTX 980. And I think I got better off with GTX 980. Single GPU is always so problem free. I also don' think gains are high enough to justify running 2 power hungry cards.

Not worth the headache, the Vega 64 is going to be much more powerful than that card so the performance gains would be minimal even when it works.

Just wanted to know if anyone tried Furyx with 290 or 280x in Dx12 multi GPU not the CF. as far as I know, DX12 multi GPU can support 1 Nvidia and 1 AMD - different manufacturers. So why not Vega 64 + 280x

Yup I am set. I could have bought 1080TI long back but no Nvidia for me.. you can call me fanboy. I would rather say personal choice.

my experience with Nvidia not so good and don't want to risk again.

Why in the world would you want to do that??

Stick with the plenty powerful enough rx vega and dont create issues for little if any returns.

I don't like lowering graphics and want to make sure I get max out of what I have. If Vega can do ultra setting in 4K then I am good. And and will sell of 280x.

I highly doubt that. My 290+290x combo don't work so it is safe to say that combo will not work. In DX12 the card needs to actually be the same.
Correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

I am talking about Dx12 multi GPU that had been enabled on some new games. Not the CRossfire.

Ya even I don't like Cf but I am talking about DX12 multi GPU and only motive is to see if it will work and if it works then will it give any advantage. My 280x can play untra setting at 1080p no matter which game I throw at it. So I wanted to know if it will help Vega run ultra setting 60fps

Not worth the headache, the Vega 64 is going to be much more powerful than that card so the performance gains would be minimal even when it works.

I understand the point.. just wanted to know if any one tried DX12 multi GPU as it can even support Nvidia + AMD.

It's not working for me is what I'm saying. I believe gears of war 4 supports it and i don't see any improvement at all and that is with the same family cards.

Ultra with no AA in many titles, sure. That said, if 4K gaming is your thing, you really should be looking at the more powerful 1080Ti which can prevent these reindeer games of trying to CFx GPUs with multiple generations of difference between them.

Wow, so much misinformation here.

It does exist, and it even works crossbrand. It just has to be explicitly supported by the game in question. Right now, only AoTS support it to my knowledge.

Don't be overdramatic, it doesn't really work. Pretty much the same thing. Both Nvidia and AMD are really steering away from 2 cards. It especially won't work with OP's cards. So not sure on the "so much misinformation".

Steering away from multi cards, maybe. But as we've seen with CPU's on AMD's end, they are dropping multi-card configurations in favor of multi-GPU cards where they'll try to bond them in such a way that shaders will be presented tot he system as if they are on a single GPU. How this will work out, no one but AMD has any clue, but we've seen how good it works with Ryzen, Threadripper and EPYC where they basically almost endlessly scale the thing. If they can pull it off for GPU's, it'll be majestic. Imagine a card with 3x Polaris cores stacked that scales nearly 100% with each core. It would be insanely cheap(er) to manufacture since you'd get great yields with small cores. They are sort of experimenting with the memory already, next phase will be the actual GPU's. When Navi hits the streets. Probably about 2 years in the future after RX Vega launch...

This thread was/is chock full of misinformation. I'm sure of that. I'm not being dramatic. It does work support just isn't there at all really because no programmer bothers with it (I don't blame them, looking at the APIs I called that from day 1).

I wasn't trying to single you out though, it was more of a "straw that broke the camels back" kinda thing.

I have already mentioned above. No Nvidia for me thanks to my personal experience.. and I also bought a LG 4K Freesync monitor and Nvidia no good for me

DX12 multi gpu doesnt exist.

Read my post and check the link on the post dude. The division, hitman, Deus EX all support that

You're confusing Homogeneous mGPU with Heterogeneous mGPU. That is mGPU with similar gpu vs mGPU with dissimilar gpu. Heterogeneous mGPU is a specific development and expecting it to be developed into current games is presumptuous. When the term mGPU is used, it refers to homogeneous not heterogeneous unless otherwise stated and usually explicitly.
