Do You Keep Your Hardware's Original Box?

I keep most of the boxes but not for collection purposes,when I need to resell or give away the products I provide the box as well.

I keep the OEM boxes and packaging
1. for Nostalgia
2. to store the bits and pieces that came with the kit (ie manual/software/other assorted hardware/cables ).
3. in case they are needed for RMA ( Been lucky as not had that problem with anything so far)
4. in case i resell the item its nice and convenient to have the correct packaging ( adds to resale value )

I keep all my boxes. Originally it was so that I could resell them at some point. But since I never do that I still keep them to put the parts back into when I retire them until I repurpose them in some other build for myself or to give away.

They are much better protected in the original box and I can keep all the manuals and accessories in with them.

Plus it makes quite the collection to look at all stacked up on shelves in my basement.

I keep boxes if I have the space. I hate having to throw them. I am not the one to thrown them someone else would do to make space.

The box is part of the product itself. Some boxes are really pretty especially for limited edition items. I even try to clean my boxes with cloth like a Ps3 I bought 2nd hand, it was a limited edition of ps3 lightning. I have been wanting this for so so long for the past 8 years. I kept it in a plastic bag so I don't damage the box. Some precious boxes I would wrap it with white paper. I accidentally damage a new smart phone box trying to clean it with a damp cloth. The paper start to have orange peeled off. I complained for the next few weeks the box I damage. Still kicking myself for my mistake.

Sigh... I still wish I have my 8600GT Asus Gpu box with the character on it. It is being thrown away by my family.

I try to keep and hold the original boxes as long as the hardware is still in warranty in case of RMA.

Always! Never know when you may need to RMA and the possibility of selling parts on it's nicer to have the original packaging.

I keep the boxes and everything that goes with it in case I need to sell the part. Most of the buyers I've dealt with ask if the part/s I'm selling come with the boxes and other stuff.

That's my reason for saving them, but living in limited space and with little storage space - coupled with an actual desire to have nice surroundings instead of the workshop look I've lived in most of my lidfe I've cultivated over the past few years - limits the amounts I can save. But I've gathered a pile 'o crap to sell so now they'll come in handy.

I keep mine for the duration of the manufacturers warranty and then toss them. Most usually get trashed after a year.

^^^ This - with the exception of the case boxes, which I keep in case I have to transport the whole computer.

I used to keep all boxes but since I don't sell parts (retired systems are donated intact) they were just taking up space needlessly. The basement got so cluttered with boxes and old retired electronics, I didn't even need a nagging spouse to motivate me to finally clean it out.

I did keep the motherboard box for my first "full" (not upgrade) build for myself - a SuperMicro P5MMS98 - for nostalgia purposes. I use it to store anti-static bags.

I keep them as long as I own the hardware and when I sell the hardware I sell it with the box, it gives a much better resale value and gives me a place to store the accessories for it. For hardware I throw away, I recycle the boxes. I always try to sell or dispose of old hardware, I don't keep any junk lying around. I try to live a lean life in general without extra junk cluttering it up. If its something I haven't used for some time it has to go.

Why wouldn't you keep the box. You need it for an RMA

Even after the warranty resell is better and nice to ship if you have it.

i always keep it, not just boxes the other thing that came with it like voucher, bonuses etc from mainboards, vga cards, mobile phones, powerbanks, keyboards, mouses, routers, psus, processors, dvdrw, data cables, what else?? not for resale just i dunno, just keep it for something i dunno

Generally I keep the box until the guarantee runs out and then get rid of it. I don't have space to keep everything.
