That would be pretty inefficient. If you're going TEC most likely you want those extreme temps, and I don't think you'll get that by doing what you described. It would be much easier and more effective to just get a water chiller.

@Vellinious I had one of those coolers before. It didn't work very well. TT Big Typhoon outperformed it.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Watercool, it's safer in the long run, and if the pump fails it's not catastrophic, leaks can be mitigated.

Peltier devices can completely destroy hardware if they malfunction.

There is a horror thread here of what happens and it's not pretty.

As a person who has played with tecs. Just don't. Get a good watercooling loop and move on.

Yes that is my problem. I got a super cheap and shitty case. But i cant afford another case. I was only interested cause peltiers are so cheap to buy. Might look to see if i can get a 5 quid fan controller and just leave the side panel off

Thanks everyone for your advice. Ill probably do a crazy peltier cooling system on an old 771 socket celeron one day but i see that it is not the solution to my current problem but for getting high overclocks

Bitfenix is not my first choice for a case, and that is not that shitty of a case. Do a bit of creative (or ghetto) modding, it could be a case worth keeping a bit longer. There are a few things you can do to improve the cooling and noise other than adding a fan controller (but you do want one for noise control). Take off that front cover OFF for starters, and add a bunch more holes where the fans are. Another is to mount a fan or two to the top, after modding the top cover of course. Re-mount any and all drives up to the external drive bays (room for 2 or 3?) and remove the lower 2 drive cages and tied down your cable out of the way to improve airflow.

Goto used computer stores they can have various fan sizes you can pick up for spare change.

and pics when this is all done. :D

I never understood why people care so much about PC noise. If you want things to be quieter remove fan grills and filters, that will help a lot and make things run cooler as well. Also get a $15 fan controller and undervolt all your fans. Larger fans tend to be quieter for a given airflow than a smaller fan, you could get a quiet 220mm fan and mount it on the side panel, might help.

I like having noise personally. Then I know its on. The fans I use generate a gentle white noise and I like the sound they all make, they are all PWM and throttled down, probably be considered loud by some people but I like the sound it makes. Woosh. A 100% quiet PC is a hot PC. Those expensive silent fans move so little air you might as well just run no fans at all and take your side panel off or something.

Well, I want to disprove that. My Air-cooled PC now is near absolutely silent in idle, only thing to hear is the HDD. With temperatures around 28. Under load it tends to be loud but I wear headphones then mostly.

When I still had my watercooling in there with an old C2Q, it was silent under load and in idle. In idle apart from HDD and pump NOTHING was moving, so no sound. And temperatures around 22. So just a very tiny bit above ambient.

my rig is setup so all fans are on one hub, using 1 temp curve to control fan speed, which means my case is pretty damn silent until I start gaming, or crunching. Thats when the orchestra starts, when all 8 fans spin up exactly at the same time and drown out just about everything in 25 yards (highly exaggerated :D).

Well, yes, because I have a complete Stock HD7970 with absolutely stock cooler. That reference design cooler is SO bad, under loud it sounds like a jet engine while still not keeping the card below 80°

If I had one of those fancy custom designs or for example something like a 1000 series Nvidia card, the whole PC would be completely silent.

I have a 100 CFM Delta and two 155 CFM Yate Loons on a PWM splitter :) Very quiet most of the time, but what I call quiet might be loud to some people out there. I think once a person starts trying to silence a HDD, they might have some form of OCD.

I messed around with TEC's for a minute back in the Socket 754 days with an FX and tried all kinds of things with them to get bad ass cooling, even stacked them and had a bunch of really strong ones (probably still have some some where) but in the end I settled on a Vapochill and that sucker ran my stuff well into the negative numbers and I never had a condensation issue. Ran it 24/7 for a couple of years.......until Core2Duo came along and wrecked my overclocking....lol Them days were the last of the AMD processor days for me and now with RYzen i have reconsidered. Oh I still have that Vapochill too.
I think once a person starts trying to silence a HDD, they might have some form of OCD.
I have upgraded more than a few HDD to SSD for just this OCD issue.lol
