Drain port at the out of the pump?

I am working on planning a watercooling build for my roommate. He just got a Vega 64, and wants to put together a custom loop for his CPU and GPU. I have all the parts figured out. I am just trying to figure out an easy drain port for it. Does anyone know if I put the pump at the buttom of the loop, if I can do the drain port at the output of the pump? Or would i actually have to have the pump running to drain the water if i have it there?

You want the drain point running of a spur from the lower part of the loop. You also need a fill point, high in the loop, preferably feeding the reservoir which drops water into the pump.

EDIT: My drain point is literally in inch (T spur) from my pump inlet.

Yeah i get that so does it not matter if it comes after the pump between the pump and radiator its feeding into?

As long as it's low down, no, it won't matter where it goes.

A positive displacement pump, unlike the D5/DDC pumps, could cause issues with drainage, so no worries.

I have a T right off my pump outlet that leads to a drain shutoff valve. It causes no issues with draining the loop and is probably the most efficient place to put it.

Yes, having it after the pump's outlet is the best place.
Make sure where you have it is at the system's lowest point for your tubing to be so if you ever need to draining the system will work as needed. You can also open this valve after you add the coolant to prime the pump and remove the air bubbles in it should you ever drain it, at the very least it will cause these bubbles to move to the point the pump shoudn't be hurt when you start it up, biggest thing at that point is to get any trapped air out of the pump, recheck the water level and you're set.

I also use a T fitting with a ball valve with mine and it works fine. The exact order mine is setup for is res to pump to drain valve to CPU block, back to the res with the res being the highest point in the entire setup so water pressure can do it's thing for priming the pump when needed. Air naturally gets removed from circulation once it reaches the res solving any trapped air probs with mine.
BTW mine is a custom setup, not one of those AIO units nor is it an enclosed setup.

I've got the same, T-fitting, ball valve and 2x male to male G1/4" fittings. Simples :)

edit - this is actually on the inlet/return of the pump, I don't think it matters if it's on in/outlet tbh.
