This is key -- if you make your game in DX12, you eliminate a huge user potential customer base that still uses Win7 and Win8 (I think). Destiny has to play to the biggest potential customer base.
Also, this game is really well optimized and smooth, even on my system (i3/1050ti). Looks great at that level, too. I didn't encounter one bit of slowdown the entire beta.

That's the funny thing. After the big push for DX12 and Vulkan, now all of a sudden people are discovering DX11 and OpenGL can also be lean if used carefully.

I am getting a solid 60fps @2560x1600..had to lower draw distance, disable motion blur (but I do that in every game) and adjust depth of view. Seems like a pretty optimized game.

Thanks for this, was not able to make it in time to beta as SEA internet has intermittent issues due to cut submerged cables.
At the least I can still hold on to my GTX 970 for a abit while I wait for price changes and stocks here.
Maybe atleast 1070/Vega 56 or a 1080.
