hello everyone
so i just bought a cpu i5 750 i applied the thermal past and everything but when i launch a game the temp goes like 80c+ and it keeps going up
then i bought another one same model and it does the same thing 80c+ in load
only my old cpu i3 530 that's working in a good temp
i have a stock cooler and a MSI H55M-E33 motherboard
is it my motherboard that causing that problem or i need to change the stock cooler to something better
thanks in advance

It could be the default CPU voltage set by the motherboard is high (higher than required to run stable), but I will say that the stock coolers allowing a CPU to hit 80 degrees is common.

i had an older i5 (2500k) do something similar, turned out to be a poorly installed Cooler mount on the mobo....fixed it and all was well. Apparently it was causing the coolers (2 stock units) to only mount properly with 3 of the 4 screws, which made poor contact, then causing high temps.

i thought the same but then i tried my older i3 530 and it worked 60c under load

Add a case fan or two or run with the side panel off and a table top fan blowing at the cooler.

Maybe a silly advice but what about to clear the CMOS?

meanwhile my i7 laptop goes a little past 90 degrees, what's the problem? intel cpus are designed to throttle if needed

you are comparing a 95w 4core i5 to a 73w 2core while using stock cooling (i am not sure if both of these cpus even use the same cooler, if they do, the i3 will have lower temps)

you need to also compare the fan speed, if the fan is NOT at 100%, then that means the temperature can go lower

you should find out how high the temps really go, while at the same time noting the room temperature (for example, if it's a 22 degree room, cpu reaches 90 degrees, that's ok, but then on a hot summer day if the room is now 30 degrees, the cpu 'should' now reach 98 degrees, no longer ok)

you should get a better cooler or attempt to undervolt if you really want to avoid 80 degrees

i added a third fan 4000rpm so the cpu stays between 75-76 in heavy load, but it's really noisy, if i change the cooler to a better one like arctic freezer xtreme
will i notice any improvement ?

i tried but it's the same :(

Yes you will notice a vast difference in temps by using an third party HSF over the stock junk Intel supplies there's a reason they're mostly at the bottom of the list in any HSF review

@reda77 which stock cooler are you using... the i3 cooler? If so, it's likely a short all aluminum cooler and I'm pretty sure the stock i5 cooler is taller with a copper center.

An i3 cooler on an i5 will run hotter....

The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 is an excellent stock replacement for under $25.... there are plenty of other options in the $30-50 range though

@Norton is probably right
Stock cooler for your i3 530 is smaller than stock cooler for the I5 and is all Aluminium
I5 usualy has a small copper core and is bigger because the I5 is a quad and consumes more power (so makes more heat to be removed)

You will see a marked drop in CPU temps if you use either of the below recommendations (+the mounting kit they come with will enable you to later use the cooler on a future upgrade)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 is an excellent stock replacement for under $25.... there are plenty of other options in the $30-50 range though

a 4000 rpm fan sounds like an airport-in-a-box! When you do get a better heatsink, also consider getting a fan controller for that 4krpm fan cuz you wont need to run it at 4k anymore.

Screenshots before and After :)

Ps Keep the rest of the Installable fittings safe and when you next upgrade your motherboard and CPU you will have a very capable Cooler ready to reuse :)

wait... hyper212 is huge, that can probably run without a fan on a simple i5 without overclock

in fact i ran a hyper212 on an overclocked q9550 with a broken fan for a while, but the case had lots of airflow

personally i would do something like lapping the heatsink, better paste, better airflow and checking the bios before put an option for buying aftermarket cooler
some may have bad contact between hsf and processor, some may got bad fan, some may got bad paste, just check it first
