Long story short i have hyper x 8gb @ 1866mhz and a i7 2600 non k and i am in for purchasing ASUS P8B75M will the new asus board support this ram at its native speeds because my older board h61 could not

asus states support for 2200 @ oc but am not sure as they state that

* 1600MHz and higher frequency is supported by Intel® 3rd generation processors

so what gives, also my sources

I wouldn't hold high hopes for RAM overclocking and stability on this board. I personally never succeeded in getting any RAM overclock on any B75 board w/ Sandy CPU.

The only way you can get it to work, is by enabling XMP and hoping that your PC will boot. Some people reported 1866MHz working with Ivy Bridge CPU, but on Sandy Bridge it will most likely have problems.
I'd simply leave it at 1333MHz and drop timings to the lowest stable values. At least this way you can get a little performance boost over 1333MHz stock.

H61 was used for prebuilts like Dell and HP. With proper bios update, H61 would run at 1600 at least with Dell OptiPlex.

See: https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...000007110/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards.html

Unsure about 1866 with B75 but see Bios notes for ver. 1606: https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/P8B75M/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Why buy more RAM? I see no issues running the memory you have at 1333MHz.

No, just use the ones you have. It does support 1333MHz SPD profile no problem.

Your 1866 memory is backward compatible at lower speeds including 1333 and 1600.

You may be in need of a bios update. You have not indicated that you are using the newest.

HyperX is meant to be very compatible but there have been complaints here in the past with that brand.

Are you running 1/One memory stick? Wrong slot? 1 stick is not dual-channel.

You did not indicate your current machine in 1st post. Fill out your system information here after login: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/account/specs

Dual channel is faster. 1 stick runs slower. Basic info, you should google dual channel for more in-depth explanation.

Did you look up memory capacity per ram slot for whatever brand H61 MB you are using?

Try another brand of 8GB ram. Borrow if you can.

ALL memory is backward compatible to slower speeds. Bios does the work in determining that, along with the preprogrammed SPD on the memory itself.

You could also try resetting the bios by clearing CMOS by removing the battery for a short time.
When you put the battery back in, boot the system: you know it cleared if you have to reset the date and time.
Pull the power cord first and hold down the PC power button for 30 sec to drain PSU power. Then pull the battery.

Updated bios now bios is stuck

Have dh61ww board

Had 0045 bios version checked the latest 0112 and tried it did not work says not compatible

Did Google realize I need to go install 0099 before 0112

So I did worked perfectly then system restarted as usual stuck on new bios screen gives options for boot device and updates as such but sometimes those work sometimes not

When I manage to get into boot options and drive show up but it does nothing and hangs up ?? Any way out of this ??

Did you read this: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23393/BIOS-Update-BEH6110H-86A-?product=54876

You may need to reset bios via battery.

Post link regarding 099 being needed first.

BOLD... is there a setting for IDE or Raid or SATA or AHCI. If drive was used as AHCI you need to change bios so it will recognize drive.
It needs to be set to whatever it was before the update.

NOW, WHAT OS???

After reading more about your MB, if HyperX is single sided ram it may not work. Double sided ram indicated in QVL: https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...rds-and-kits/desktop-boards.html?wapkw=dh61ww

That being said these old QVL lists never were updated with regards to New BIOS versions such as 0120. The newer Bios may support a wider base of allowed memory. You won't know until you get the Bios updated to 0120.

Assuming all goes well, if HyperX still does not work, you will need to try a 8GB stick with DS memory.

See the ADATA ram listed at top that runs at 1600mhz. My guess is that 1600 will work but you will never get 1866 speed to work. Hard to tell, don't know what 0120 bios unlocked or improved.

He/She is playing with an older system. Might be a minor who lacks experience and this is a good way to learn some basics. Look at the questions and how they were asked and what limited info was given and what I had to figure out to ask.

Yeh am debating getting a new board now

Funny stuff it started with a change of thermal paste that resulted in mobo dying due to incorrect fan placment & reqired 10$ to fix but ram slot was dead

Realized would have been cheaper if I just asked electrician to change paste as he already had it

Now I am stuck with 4gb ram not enough to play pubg that I brought a day before mobo died now game won't play beacuse Am stuck with 4 gb ram

So I orded up a 8gb hyperx ram on Amazon that didn't work beacuse my mobo prolly can't support over 1333mhz

God bless Amazon they refunded me also had me keep the ram

I asked on this forum if a Asus board was good choice some buddy suggested ailexpress I saw some good options I ordered a 82$ board from a Chinese 2nd hand retailer but address was incorrect and I would change it before confirmation as I was thinking debit card would require otp but it went through and paid without any prior warning not used to pay without dual factor in my country

Now I cancelled the AliExpress order beacuse of incorrect address now I realize this is not Amazon and seller has to approve the refund ?

Now they will ofc keep the money and I get nothing back

I just ordered a new 8 gb ram of 1333mhz 2 hours before the mobo died of this bios update

Now I just cancelled that order might as well get.a new cheap board after I give up on this board

So RIP 16gb ram RIP Volta xx60 :(

I didn't think this thermal paste upgrade would cost me depression

The Intel board might be OK try to flash Bios via other methods: https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...rds-and-kits/desktop-boards.html?wapkw=dh61ww

You finally filled out system specs but you listed 2x 4GB ram? Is the second slot broken or fixed?

You have not read carefully regarding ram speed. Intel indicated 1600mhz and your 1866 would down clock automatically or with manual bios adjustment to that speed if it could post. YOU said you could get into bios just not Windows.

Go back and READ Post from the TOP.
