RAM only for AMD?

Hi guys,

So I was looking for RAM for my 775 build and on eBay some ram titled only for AMD Systems. Is this false or true cause I haven't come across this

Marketing. But if you want to be 100% sure, stick to the compatibility list found on the website for your mobo.

What they mean is it is memory with sloppy timings meant for the first few gens of APUs.

Not always. I have two kits here for review that are specifically built for Ryzen.

Also, having tried to use many ram XMP-rated kits with Ryzen, XMP profiled sticks working without any issues is not something you should expect unless the sticks are on the QVL. The Ryzen platform still have some weird memory things that I do not think can be addressed by BIOS update... we need new chips for that.

Those are fake chinese sticks. The "AMD only" part pertains to the part where it "might" work on some AM2 and AM3 systems with very lax restrictions to SPD profiles.
Don't buy it. I've only wasted my cash on one pair of DDR2 sticks which died within a week, while my friends got swindled for ten times that on a large qty. of fake Kingston DDR3 sticks.

@rk3066 , are you in US? If so, let me know. My relatives might have some older DDR2 and DDR3 sticks from back in a day, just laying around.

Totally get that..I was going by "eBay" and "775 system"...
I've come across this stuff on both eBay and Amazon... It's really shitty memory that HP used on the ultra shitty first and second gen APUs

How much ram do you need? I have 2x4GB DDR3 Samsung Greens. I might even have 4x4GB sticks, I have a lot of this ram.

Meh ddr2. I plan to build a plex server but it only has 720P Movies

Most TVs we have are 32" but one is 70 but still can't tell the difference so unless you're up close

Counterfeit ram. I got 4x1gb sticks of what i thought was qimonda. SPD shows kingston.

They work but cant run ddr400 only ddr333 works.

It's mad popular over there"china maybe" for these fools relabeling random chips.

Ebay is polluted with them.

Those are high density sticks. Only AMD K8, K10 IMC supports it. Very specific stuff.

I've seen few... they work fine... if they work.
