I'm no longer interested in "gaming" laptops, they are just too expensive for what you get IMO...
You might be able to build a 1080ti desktop system for such money...

I sold my gaming laptop a month ago or so.
Well said, now days the words " Gaming - Game Ready and gaming edition" means just let me take you money fool,

I personally dont like laptops that much, i rather desktop PC, but is pretty funny to see some specs like "Desktop Grade GPU" or the most scary one: "overclock-able laptop", come on....

"Overclocking in a laptop is as bad as staring at your sister's boobs intentionally, watching is not bad, but you still know that is incorrect....Period"

im glad you just sold your gaming unit, i hope you get a better vaporizer instead! a mech one! lolz:clap::laugh:

All they show is "starting at" prices on their website, all around $2000 in their cheapest config

Clevo sells 8700k + gtx1070 + 120hz screen 15/17 for 1500€.

The problem is not the price, is the cooling, i doubt you can even sustain 4,4ghz with less than 85Âş on these CPUs, even with delid. More like undervolting and sticking to 4ghz, wich is useless, as in January we have the i7 8700hq (proper laptop models with 45w) incoming with similar clocks. And with 2,4kg laptops instead of 4kg beasts that remind us of the 2000s laptops.

I like this beast. It'll be great for LAN party's and mobile computing. Eurocom and Clevo have been doing this for years giving near desktop performance on a very mobile form-factor. This thing will likely give the same experiences.

LOL 8700k in a laptop. This thing might even throttle to the moon! Such a tremendous waste of silicon... just grab an 8600k, 1070 vanilla and keep it cooler so it clocks higher and actually survives 2-3 years. And even that is pushing it IMO.

I would say a GTX 1060 even. A 8600k with more than 4,2ghz (depending on silicon lottery) will still throttle. But like I said these models make no sense, after i7 8700HQ and i5 8300hq are released.

what a pointless cpu 8700hq, and 8300hq are. complete rip off with terrible silicon quality. I will take a 8700k and throttle anyday over those HQ processors. besides, I have had Eurocom's laptop since their haswell 4790k CPU, 5775C, 6700k and 7700k, all run fine and overclock just fine without throttle. simple delid on the later generation CPU and undervolt and problem solved.

sounds to me you are quite bad in computer and overclocking a laptop hmmm?

Yeahm can we stop talking about quad cores now? I guess you´re the one clueless about hardware overall. We talking about 6 core chips that get toasty, way more than Skylake and Kabylake. You have no idea about how hot a 8700k gets, delid won´t save it on a laptop. Check notebookcheck forums and go figure.

Sure, you are smart, you prefer to grab a 4kg laptop that is as large as the year 2003 units and let it throttle for days while reaching constant 80Âş-90Âş, instead of waiting for a proper 45w chip that will do almost the same clocks you can do without throttling on the 8700k and with 2,2kg.

Welcome to TPU, I see you have a lot to learn, please allow yourself to get educated. Everybody wins

Meanwhile, lets do a simple google search to see how prevalent throttling is in laptops shall we?
https://www.google.nl/search?q=thro...me..69i57j0.3727j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Enjoy, and take special note of the WIDE range of CPUs that suffer from this and the date/year all of these entries come from, all of them with (much) lower TDPs than the 8700k and a vast majority of them not in ultrabooks, but normal/average sized laptops just like the one in this topic. It'll develop some laptop sense in a good way :)

Meh, I'd rather have my Intel CPU sharing a bed with Vega.

what a pointless search for throttling :)

majority of population who owns laptop dont overclock let alone understand overclock and what needs to be done to not throttle. you simply searched those majority of posts and further proved yourself wrong. take in more results of silly users and you'll become silly too ;)

Wow. Something got lost in translation, I do hope? Is English your first language?

If not, please re-read carefully what I said. Throttling has zero relation to overclocking per se, it can occur on any CPU in any build, depending on how well it can cool. The search would show you exactly that: a wide range of CPUs, both overclockable and regular, all suffering from throttling in a wide range of laptops from budget to high end, and ALL of them have lower TDP CPUs inside than the 8700k or even the 8600k.

The only laptops that avoid this are the super bulky ones - and this originPC is not that.

it's alright to admit when you're wrong Vayra86, don't need to feed yourself with stupid consumers and their lies and stupidity. these computer are very capable and amazing!

annnnd just for laughs, bga joke books performance in a 9000$ laptop.

1080 sli getting outdone by 1070 sli overclocked

We were talking about CPUs and you barge in with overclocked Clevo's? You're not making sense. The model in the article we are discussing is NOT a Clevo barebone. An 8700k is also NOT an SLI GPU in a heavily modded chassis, might even be open chassis for all we know.

Running a bench/stress test of five minutes and prolonged usage of a laptop in a NORMAL environment are two wildly different use cases. You literally pointed that out yourself in your previous post. Fact remains; if you don't heavily mod the OriginPC of this article, it will throttle like no tomorrow, and its limited cooling heavily limits any OC, if you can achieve it at all.

Get your argumentation checked out, I'd say. When you've learned to compare apples to apples, we can continue this discussion. Until then please don't bother.

majority of population who owns laptop dont overclock let alone understand overclock and what needs to be done to not throttle.
Anyone who is going to buy one of the notebooks in the article above is going to know about those kinds of things, or will want to learn. Your points are pointless and you seem to be arguing for the sake of creating drama. Do be quiet unless you have something constructive and/or interesting that actually adds to the conversation.

LMFAOOOOO LOLLLLL typical losers and form of argument "people wont bother learning it" LOLOL

first you argued about performance, then once proven LGA in a laptop overclocked is totally fine, then you proceed to bring up anything else that will help you with your argument after you have lost the first one and the very point you're trying to make.

mentioning a bunch of less relevant facts doesnt make it more factual :) originally by vayra86 was 8700k was pointless in a laptop, but proven better performance, cooling than soldered CPUs, then onto less important things. let me TELL you what your next argument will be, pricing, thickness, portability. HAHAHHAHAHAH people like you are so easy to predict.
