Yes, the DRAM manufacturers are creating an artificial shortage to drive up prices.

supposedly samsung is building two new factories just for RAM and they supply brands like Corsair. Then again it could all be for the smart phone manufacturers. I have not heard any news from Micron (aka Crucial) about increased production.
